When did ringing POLICE number at 35p a minute from Orange become "some of the best value tariffs on the planet" ? Hopefully the merge of all to the "Scottish Police Force" will mean a number that is cheap to call because Orange wont put a 0800 on their 0800 freebie list for a constubulary !
Then you should call 101 which is 15p per call then!
Also, I was referring to the actual plans, ie: xxx mins for £xx, not the roll-on rate.
If you call the police so much, and you cannae call 101, then go on T-Mobile as they allow all 08xx numbers in their minutes (ex Full Monty)I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0 -
1. Should all networks offer the option to cap monthly spend or at least alert you when you are reaching a predetermined amount? I think it would be a good move, so YES.
Then you'll have people on here whinging that they needed to make an "emergency" call but couldn't as they ran out of the minutes/went over their limit etc.
You can't win.
Anyway, the phone was used, Vodafone billed correctly, the bill stands, OP is liable for all costs. Game over and put to bed.

Probably! But hence suggestion of an "option" to (a) set limit and if so (b) have a cap or (c) text warning if limit reached.
But nothing beats self control and personal responsibility. :beer:0 -

There are certain 01, 02 or 03 numbers that will dial an 0800 no. for you so that it only comes from your allowance.0 -

Good...hopefully we won't see you here again then.0 -
It's just the same business model reflecting the mentality of British society (demand for 'free' mobiles on inflated contracts). The contracts by itself make no profit or even make loss. All profits come from out-of-allowance services.
You can prove this? As the networks readily admit 80% of contract users do not make the full use of their allowances, the standard profit (even a bulk rates) will be from paid services that are unused.
Anything else is the icing on the cake.0 -
You can prove this?
Yes, we don't use all the minutes/texts/Mb that we get, but we don't pay anything for them.0 -
