I'm talking about challenging it - and talking of Utopian Dreams...
and I personally would not pay Vodafones random bill of £1300 - It would be for the judge to decide - and I would would expect maximum damages of around £200-£300 which I would expect to pay0 -
they can write anything in a contract - I'm talking about challenging it - and talking of Utopian Dreams - anyone read theirs??????????
Rhetorical questions because I <<<know>>>>>> for a fact that nobody on this forum has - even the oh so righteous

My bolding.
It is not a random bill, it is based on the number of minutes used over the monthly allowance.YNWA

Ahem...
Not only did I read the (£10 sim only 500mins, unlimited texts & data) contract before I signed with Tesco mobile in January 2011, I can still lay my hands on it within 30secs 18months later.
Of course I do file all paperwork as soon as it arrives practically, and appreciate most people are not as anal as I am about this kind of thing0 -

My dad got my teenage daughter a mobile a year ago, but we pay the bill for it and to be fair she has been good as gold on it not going over on her bill. We decided that as she didnt use it too much and reduced the tarriff. But two months ago for some strange hormonal teenage reason she managed to build a bill up of £1300.00 in one month talking to some strange teenager in the night for 5 hrs a night!!!(thats another story about stranger danger!) any how you can imagine my total shock when I went to pay the bill when it should of been max £30!!! Ive been in touch with Vodafone asking why there was no alert of this but they just say we encourage people to check the bills! fair enough if we knew she was on it...... My question is ....I feel vodafone should take some responsibilty for not alerting us to this humongus bill and reduce the bill..... should I keep on at them ? Has anyone had any experience of this or am I on a high onto nothing and I should just shut up and pay up?0

You are fast approaching your contract allowance. If you go over we will be charging you an arm and a leg every time you look at your mobile !!! I approached my local MP about this matter and he was vaguely interested. Other mobile providers offer this text warning, why can't Vodafone ???IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

I'm not saying this in defence of Vodafone - I'm no fan, and think their service is shocking. However, three personal experiences:
1. Last weekend I received a text from Vodafone saying "We notice you are sending a lot of texts abroad and wonder if you would like to upgrade your package to one with inclusive foreign texts for £x per month". Er, no, this is a one-off situation, but thanks for offering.
2. A couple of years ago, on holiday in Australia, part way through a complicated house sale in the UK - having to conduct negotations at all times of the day and night due to the time difference, I received a call from Vodafone saying "Your monthly bill has gone way over it's normal level, we are therefore suspending use of your phone until you make a payment". Er, don't you blinkin' dare.... I've been a customer for years, always paid on time, by direct debit so you just help yourselves to however much you want - if I'm using my phone more than normal you should be thanking me for the extra business, not cutting me off!
3. On a business account, a colleague recently inadvertently ran up a £2k data charge. Much panicking later, I found my way to Vodafone's 'Bill Shock' department, who were most helpful in waiving the charge in its entirety.
So, I'd say that Vodafone do accept responsibility for monitoring customer usage, and are prepared to be reasonable on occasion. Whether they are consistent in doing this is probably more of the question.0
