Barney must be something special if his insurance is more than your own.
The £15 is muchly a savings plan, £15 a month for 10 years. When it finishes it'll pay for new carpets and telly as the last one did.
Good point that is - it's 2 dogs though still expensive, that's Tesco's, the cheapest I could find for 2 11 year olds.
Op submit that water reading, you'll probably get a refund.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

In your o.p you say "only me" then "Do you think £53 a month is a lot for water then? We already have a meter".
However, £53 does seem excessively high. I pay £10/month, metered, sole occupant in a three bedroom semi.
Gas and electricity, as a comparison, I pay £85/month for both, just reduced from £92/month and £300 in credit at the moment. I suspect a further reduction is needed?!0 -

I live at home with parents so my outgoings are small.0 -
I am gonna have to review my payment.
Just of the top of my head ;
combined gas and electricity 260 - 2 adults and four kids
council tax (scotland so includes water which we have in abundance) 161
sky-phone and internet 73 - reduced package and was told this is as low as it goes because it is a combined package.
Never questioned this before but looking at others I think I maybe getting taken for a mug here.
Thanks for the comparisons0 -
doesn't it depend on what channels you watch?
I thought a basic package (sky, telephone, broadband) was about £35/month ? I switched to Virgin a while ago however who offered the same deal but much faster internet for just £25/month (I'm expecting they'll tell me its increasing after the 12 months are up)0 -

This thread is really useful for me, i'm moving out for the first time soon and i'm trying my best to get an idea of bills, mainly water, elec etc.
Is there any chance people could put what area they are from? then we can compare the prices in different areas.
thanks0 -

Me and OH in a three bed semi.
Mortgage £76 (yes, that's right. Theres only about 8k left on it)
Gas £40 (on a special payment plan - the supply has been shut off because our boiler is knackered)
Electricity £67 (we're high users but this should be in credit after we paid the arrears)
Council tax £127 (robbing bunch of barstewards)
Water £57
OH's car loan £227
TV licence - think its about £14 but OH never checks the account it goes from so dont know exactly
Sky - £57
Home phone/broadband - I've just cut this from £38 to £23 by switching suppliers
Mobile - OH's mobile £10 at the most, mine - er... £140 (yes I know it's obscene but I'm very silly and I'm stuck with that for another 12 months, I have 3 contracts)
Home Ins (B&C) £13, Car Ins - £28, Car tax is about £2 a month
Petrol - £130
Then there's OH's prescription card at £28 every 3 months, I have a medical exemption card. Food bill is about £78 every week so about £340 a month.
