What is wrong with my attitude?

  • By making an issue of your disability you are making a fool of yourself.

And yes I can say that because I am disabled myself.

You have to learn to get on with the disability in your life since it is not going to go away.

The way you are going on I wouldn't employ you, that is for sure.

Okay, I do go on, but all I would like to see is disabled people have full opportunity to jobs and a decent application form is important for that.
And on a personal level to be given a fair chance at a job regardless of the fact I have a few problems.

  • If the question is not on the application form then add it to it.

As I said before, the employer is required by law to add the box "are you disabled" to the application form.

All I am doing is feeding your need to be the centre of attention.

Instead of sitting on mse all day long why aren't you searching the web for jobs?

I really have to say something I just do not believe this at all! I agree with shameless-about-money and with many others here, studentphil you are making a fool of yourself, and before you ask yes I am also disabled, but that does not make any difference to my chances of getting a good job - you are drawing attention to your 'disability' and making a big issue of it

In my experience when I was looking for work or when in work have always had full opportunity to jobs - and very good jobs. What does it matter about the application form? What do you mean DECENT APPLICATION FORM - whether you are disabled or not it is the same application form for all!!

One minute you want to hide the fact that you have a disability and the next you want to make a fuss because they are not catering for your disability!! I expect that if you apply for a job and don't get offered an interview it will because you are disabled, or if you get an interview and don't get the job it will be because you are disabled!! No one can win with you or so it seems. Stop making excuses either apply or don't and remember when applying for a job do apply for something you are qualified and that is within your capabilities.

I have seen a few of your posts and have been baffled. One time you were applying for a job and if you were successful the starting date would be happening during your final exams! Just recently though you said something about thinking of doing a degree or something - so are you doing your finals for a degree now or was that a lie?? Things with you just do not add up.

Yes I am disabled but I do not make an issue of it, not working at the moment because of illness, but have had very good jobs in the past and absolutely no problems with any employers or colleagues about my disability, they did not see me as any different to anyone else. I think you want to be different, you want the pity from what I have read of your posts!

    I do not want Pity!

I do want an application form that meets the claims about being positive about employing disabled people.

I do not want to hide my problems but at the same time I do not want to be judged negatively for them.

I not want them thinking I am physically unfit for the job but at the same time I do have some problems which they will need to know about.

What does not make sense about finding the right balance between the two?

I know how my disability could be seen as negative as the job is based in a place that would require going down some small steps (about 4)

I know that the job involves lifting small things.

So I know how my problems could make me look unfit for the job if I make too much of a big deal with things.

If you think it is bad to stand up for the rights of disabled people and judge it as a joke that is up to you.
