When to declare a disability?

UKTigerlily wrote: »Phil, what disability is it you have? Being unable to write small enough for forms isn't related to having problems with your legs. I can't believe this thread is four pages long, I don't think you want to work. There's plenty on this forum with real disability & they all cope, including myself. I don't have anyone to fill forms in for me! Why not spend some of the time you'd be starting pointless threads & start googling for help, have you contacted Remploy?
I have cerebal palsy which affects my legs, hands a bit.:beer:0 -

If there is no place to declare your disability, wait for the offer of an interview - unless they are "positive about disability" and use the two ticks logo (which I mentioned in my first post in this thread).
The person said that I could have sent a CV and covering letter but it says on the info that you must fill in an application form, so it is a bit unclear, but it principle using extra sheets is a good idea.:beer:0 -
OMFG phil, what is going on today?
You could of asked this question on the other thread about applying for jobs.
You could of taken the advice and info i took the time to find and PM you nearly 2 weeks ago and made an appointment to see an advisor at the jobcentre who could help you with any questions you have regarding disabilities and work etc.
I have large handwriting and too find it hard to write in small places, but i adapt to do it as i cant be telling people 'your applications forms are crap'
I just dont know what to say anymore phil, this is all just getting beyond an joke hun.:j Baby boy Number 2, arrived 12th April 2009!:j0 -

You are right, but I never thought applying for a job would be so hard and so I thought I would not need help from the DWP but maybe I do.
Lots of other disabled people get jobs and so I never thought it would be so hard for me to manage to sort it out.:beer:0 -

Don't be stupid; you won't take the fight to them. You'll bore the knackers off everyone here about it instead. Whatever physical disability you have, it's as nothing compared to the handicap of your attitude. I just don't see how you're going to make that leap from super-whiny minimal-effort centre-of-attention Phil to ambitious hardworking for-the-good-of-the-team employed Phil once you leave Uni; I don't think you can do it.I am not stubborn. I am merely correct.0 -

Maybe I can manage it maybe I can not. Maybe having any dreams in life is pointless and I should accept that I can not have dreams.:beer:0 -
Why all this talk of 'rights'?... whatever happened to 'the best person for the job'?
Other disabled people have got jobs, not because it was their right but because they were the best person for the job... simple0 -

But even I must be the best person to do some job. Even I should be upto a support job which is just doing mainly all the odds and ends.
That is what I hate about looking for jobs and applying from them, when you get rejected it makes you feel worthless and unwanted.:beer:0 -
We have a guy at work with CP who got a job through REMPLOY (Have you contacted them yet?), he uses a wheelchair mainly, he can walk but not far, he has problems with his arms I think & he never complains or whines, he just does his job. Now get on with it!0

That looked suspiciously like a positive statement0
