When to declare a disability?

In fact, I doubt most employers give a toss as long as you can do the job, they'll be more likely to want to know about qualifications, what you can bring to the company etc. How do you know your interviewer won't be disabled? S/he may well be. What makes you so sure they'll see it as a negative?
A negative is more likely to be criminal record, scruffy, bad breath, no interest/nothing to say, no relevant, asked for experience, face tattoo's etc I think you'd be the least of their concerns if you can do the job. All they'll probably want to know is about time off relating to it & how they can help/anything you'd need
Anyway you'll never know because you seem adamant you can't work due to it. Funny that i've been in jobs & have seen people in jobs with disability for all sorts of companys. Now, do you WANT to work? If you're that worried contact somewhere like Remploy who help people with disability to remain in/get work. More research (CAB/Remploy etc) less threads on topics you've decided on!
I have to tell them about it. I am just not sure when. I do really deeply want to work and to make something of myself!!!
I think I might be best to tell them when they contact me to ask me for interview.:beer:0 -

If you can not do it on the application form as the form lacks a place to declare it, when is the best time to declare it?
Is it best to wait until they offer you the job and then they can not possibly discriminate against you as I think if places know they are more likely to see you negatively (regardless of the law)?
I mentioned this point to someone at Shaw Trust - where I had applied for a job and there was no place to declare it. I was told that the box is mandatory on all application forms and has been since 1998!!
Just goes to show that employers are behind the times!
He did say that if the box is there you MUST tick it, particularly if you are in receipt of DLA.0 -

You think I am unreal in thinking that being disabled might tip me from being a "yes" to a "NO". Often human nature sees disability badly and so you never know if it will make people see you negatively.:beer:0 -

There is no box on the form I am certain only bit there is relates to occuptional health and disability is different to health as you can say be Blind and in perfect health.

One or two threads is hardly hogging a board. I do need help just as much as the next person on here, therefore, I find it strange that you reduce my problem to chit chat.:beer:0

I do take issue with that my need to find a job is not important.
If I do not get a job soon then I will end up lonely, unemployed, poor and very unhappy.:beer:0 -

NO - read what I wrote and what I quoted from you in #44. You are clearly arguing that being disabled will hopefully tip you from a No to a Yes. In other words, you want special treatment including being given the job because an employer takes pity on you because you're disabled. How can you possibly think that?I am not stubborn.
