beanielou - I have a little boy (or not so little, he is nearly as tall as me) boy with multiple disabilities. I wanted to try him on a trike but was worried that I could spend a small fortune and he wouldn't use it. We borrowed one from the local physio. It was an adults trike but set on the smallest setting. It went well and we bought one but he still can't pedal or steer though he gets a great ham string stretch as I pull him along with his feet strapped to the pedals.
I am not sure if all physio's lend such equipment but it might be worth enquiring? Our loan was for 6 weeks so it could be a real bonus for you in the warmer weather?
I love to see people with disabilities on TV too... but only when they are portrayed in a positive fashion.
PS. Forgot to add have you tried resistance bands for muscle toning? Might be worth a try?0 -
Welcome and Well done lottyxx - what a great result :T:T0

Afternoon all, especially newbies.
DS seems to be ok. He's coping with using one hand quite easy, unless I remind it's his turn to do a certain job...then it's agony!
Lost 1 Lb this week which I'm hoping means I reached the March challenge. I was amazed as I must admit my diet was terrible with everything else going on. Was warned it could catch up with me next week tho...
Am hopin school hols don't get me... When I take kids to MCd's etc I now stick to treatin myself with a latte ( I love MY COFFEE ). I get them to clear their own stuff away and that way I avoid wanting to finish off any nuggets, chips etc. After consultant told me the syns in a McFlurry I've avoided them like the plague:eek:
Have told hubbie no Easter eggs or thorntons (heaven in a box!!!) I will put the money to some new clothes for our hols we've just booked. If I'm brave enough it may even be a bikini:rotfl:
Going in June so got more incentive to keep going now
Jo
OOps sorry forgot to say well done to all those with the big (and little) losses.

wow lotty sounds like u've been very good, well done losing so much weight! Welcome to the forum.
jojilufc well done meeting the March challenge!! And for avoiding the McD's (i dont know if i could have that much willpower...i crave McD's sometimes! wish i didnt give in tho, it's such rubbish, not real food at all.)
Played squash again last night and finally beat my boyfriend!! :j Been trying to beat him for over a year now! Felt so good, even tho it was a close one. He used to be much better than me but i've been improving lots and i put so much energy into it last night, he was proud of me and didnt 'really' mind me rubbing it in his face hehe! i've been the gracious loser for so long it was about time i got to gloat!!!:p
Been a good girl today, no time for exercise (got a deadline so no spare time) so no cheating allowed. Tho i will do some sit ups/press ups/light weights tonight as usual.
So far..
Brekkie = 2 weetabix with 1/2 tsp light sugar and rice milk
snack = smoothie with 2 oranges, 1 lemon, 1/2 banana (i ate the other half!)
lunch = 1/2 can heinz tomato soup and 1 wholemeal pitta bread.
snack = 2 slices of fresh pinapple
later on dinner will be cold chicken (from last night's roast, but i will take the skin off as i dont like it), jacket potato with 1/4 tin of beans, salad, corn on the cob and a little bit of french stick (fresh from the bakery, can't resist! OH loves it so couldnt say no) and probably a soft cheese triangle.
Afters will be YeoValley organic apricot yoghurt.
Is that an ok day do you think???
i am trying to get 5 a day every day, but it usually depends what's in the house. today is mostly fruit but tomorrow will prob be grilled veg in pitta for lunch and stir fry loaded with veg for dinner.
Sunday brekkie is usually bigger, with egg of some variety.
I have to have different things every day rather than stick to a standard diet else i get bored and give in to the chocolate cravings!
Well, back to the essay! Hope everyone's having a good weekend, and well done to all the losers!

Why is it that when you get depressed about your weight/size that you do exactly what you shouldnt do and eat
Had a bridesmaid fitting today and wasnt happy about the dress (it looked and felt tight - even though I was measured for it and have lost weight since the initial measurement) so what did I do - came home and have eaten all round me - I now feel even more depressed and to top it off I feel sick cos of the chocolate that I have eaten  Where's Petrichor and her beating smilies when you need them

honey28 I'm exactly the same, everytime i feel down (or 'fat') i eat loads of food and feel worse. I dont know why we do it, but it's usually only a small slip and things can get back on track straight away...and you've realized that you're doing it and stopped yourself now (even if you do feel sick), which is good just because you've stopped. Have a couple of glasses of water to get the taste out of your mouth and stop you feeling ill.
It's only a small slip up, it's easily corrected, and it IS NOT a disaster. :)Remember what good work you have been doing, and now think of the size/weight you would be if you hadn't done any of it. Imagine feeling this way every day... some people do! we are lucky enough to have the insight to help ourselves, and to forgive ourselves for the odd mistake.
Don't let this incident get you more depressed (which will inevitably lead to more eating) See it as a positive jumping off point...perhaps a reminder of why you are losing weight, and try to keep in mind how sick you feel now as how you don't ever want to feel again!
Have a 'day one' tomorrow, and after all the fruit/veg/lovely low fat HM food you will feel much better than you do tonight...and you can focus on your healthy lifestyle again...and on looking gorgeous in that dress!!
When's the wedding by the way?? i'm being maid of honour in april, so i'm going through the same dress anxiety as you!Moneysavinghopeful :rotfl:0 -
Honey I have done that so many times, sometimes when your feeling down only chocolate/snackage will do!!
I can't really say more than kat I think that is the best advice have a day 1 and don't beat your self up about it don't let 1 day ruin a good week. :grouphug:
Put your lost lbs in a bag and feel the weight, then imagine what that large bag of potatos/stones whatever would look like wedged down the front or your dress!!There you go better already!?!?!
Goal weight....lighter than when I started0
