Thank you for the warm welcome everybody. I am feeling better supported and inspired already.:A
The school holidays have arrived. I am steeling myself for requests of trips to McDonalds etc. I find myself eating a little of what ever the kids have when they have it. :rolleyes2 It adds up to a lot of extra nibbles in a fortnight.
Unlike most Mums who find having the children around 24/7 increases their activity I have just the opposite as I foster children with disabilities. We can't walk very far and when we do it is very slow. I have bought an exercise bike and hopefully will motivate myself to use it. I am going to treat myself to a few DVD’s with the money that I would previously have spent on chocolate and pedal away in front of the TV. I will let you know how it goes…
I am not following any plan and my weight loss seems to have stopped. Any advise welcome!
Today I have eaten:
Breakfast: half a slice of wholemeal toast
100g strawberries with quarter of a pint of sugar free jelly
Mid morning: 6 partially dehydrated prunes
Lunch: 1 can weight watchers chicken soup
Strawberries and jelly as before
Mid afternoon: 1 bar liquorice (100 calories)
Dinner: Omelette (2 eggs, 1 table spoon of 0% fat greek yoghurt, 1 pkt steam fresh veg, 2 slices of turkey ham and a small sprinkling of reduced fat cheese) served with a green salad.
In the evening I will probably have a piece of fruit or two and maybe an options hot chocolate. I often weaken and will have a biscuit or packet of crisps but only one per day so I leave myself 100 calories for this just in case!
I drink de-caff coffee with skimmed milk and peppermint tea. I am making an effort to drink more water.
My pedometer says I have walked 9834 steps so far but how that converts to calories is beyond me I’m afraid. I haven’t done any other exercise.:o
Thanks for listening and good luck to you all over the holday period.0 -

Thanks for the welcome and comments guys, and don't disagree with the logic of your statements. Normally I have been able to find a way even though boring to the extreme of moving weight, but starting last year it was no go. I went to the quacks who checked the blood levels for an underactive thyroid, and found me "normal" a first for me to be normal I am sure. Sent me to see the practice nurse who specialised in dieting/weight loss, and we discussed what I ate etc., she gave me some info sheets, which in honestly I know about anyway, and tried me on the fat consuming tablets, which I know have worked for others. No joy, apart from more exercise with very frequent walks to the loo, but no weight loss.
At the moment I admit, I am swopping between one plan and other with sheer frustration, and boredom of diet following. I will just have to decide which way to go, you get so many people going on at your re the Atkins being bad for you, even though I suppose it is the kind of food I prefer. They did check my Cholesterol at the same time and that was given me a "normal! too. Maybe with a week away on holiday so near I just live with it until I come back, but would like a stone+ by the 19th July for our DS's graduation.Member #8 of the SKI-ers Club
Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
Hello everyone
Can I join in with the challenge please?
My weight loss has been fairly slow since I started - but it is coming off and it WILL continue to do so!
I'm starting jogging/walking on Monday so hopefully this will help in the long term. I've orded a book off Amazon (Running made easy) and so Monday I head out to 'pound the streets' for a minute of jogging then 3 minutes of walking - which I repeat 4 times... Seems a programme I can stick to !! :j
