    Hi everyone,
Like Gingham Ribbon I've been awed by the length of this thread  so I'd be really grateful if someone could explain Slimming World to me. I'm familiar with WWs Core plan. Is it similar to SW ?

TIA, and well done to everyone who's lost weight on this thread, you're inspirational :T

Hi Gingham and Thriftlady - welcome to the thread! There are a few SW-ers (myself included) on here who can help you out, except I'm not very good at explaining things!! LOIS LANE is good at it so hopefully she will be along in a while!

As the thread is getting long shall we start another? I've done it the past few times so would someone else please do the honours  Its not that I dont want to - I'm still huffing with my weight loss and don't feel I'm the appropriate person to start it off :rotfl:

Aren't bank holidays boring when its raining???
Dangerous time for boredom eating so I thought I'd have a quick peep here instead. Welcome to Thriftlady and Gingham - I've used lots of your helpful hints on the OS board. Hopefully we can return the favour!

Am quite enjoying abandoning SW for a while and calorie counting instead - I guess its just the novelty of not counting syns and counting cals instead. I am amazed at how many cals are in some things though - pasta!!! On SW I ate it by the bucketful but when you look at the cals in a small portion it's frightening.
However, I do feel that I have a bit more freedom with food at the moment.
We'll see how it pays off (or not!)

    Gingham - http://www.slimming-world.co.uk/healthy_eating/food_optimising.asp

You really need to beg an old SW book from someone to really get the hang of it or go to class/register online. It may be good for you particularly as there's no weighing involved really and, as a veggie, Green days allow unlimited pasta, rice, potato, all veg, eggs, all fruit etc. You have healthy extras to eat too - usually 1 A choice - "dairy" (milk, cheese, etc) - and 2 B choices - bread, cereal, limited meat/fish etc. This is reversed on Red days where meat is free along with most veg (not spuds) and fruit but carbs (rice. pasta etc) have to be counted as a B choice. You also then have a number of syns - usually 10-15 a day that you can spend on treats, extras, unlisted ingredients etc.
It does take a bit of getting used to but its the easiest diet for a veggie (and I've tried them all!!)

    Hope it helps a bit,
    R

    Hi

I'm pleased to say that when I weighed myself this morning I had lost a further 2.2lbs :j :j

Well done Marion :A To come back from holiday and have a loss of 5lbs :T you certainly are an inspiration.....

    .....*debbie* :T 6lbs :T That's fantastic, I'm sure that you'll keep it up....

4ycxuu5.gifthriftylady and Gingham Ribbon There are quite a few folk here following SW so you should get lots of info come your way. Gingham, by cooking from scratch you are in the best position for healthy eating as you are in total control of what, and how, something is cooked. Don't be in too much of a hurry to lose the weight, I know that we all want it off as soon as possible, but a steady and regular weight loss of 1-2lbs per week is more likely to stay off in the long term, and is more healthy. I calorie count and after a while it becomes a way of life, but whatever you do 'Good Luck' and please stay with us ;)

I appear to have missed a page out so I'll go back and catch up with things. This weekend has thrown me completely.

Good luck to those still to weigh in

    Hi all

Hello Gingham, Thriftylady and WelshgirlMel - welcome to the thread. Slimming World is great for people that like to cook from scratch as you're totally in control of what goes into your meals. I'd recommend getting hold of a SW book, or you can give their 7 day menu planner a go. Link here. There are a few people following SW on this thread, so feel free to ask questions - someone will be sure to have what you need. Some also have access to all the information on the SW website, such as syn values for branded products, which is only available to people who attend class (or know the password!).

Madauri - welcome back :) I was wondering where you'd got to!

*debbie* and Retiredlady - well done - excellent weight losses! :T

Have a good week everyone :D

Hello gingham ribbon, long time no see!
My fault, of course. Two months away from the net.

I do SW but I am not going to classes at the moment. GR, if you're vegetarian you'll do green days (according to SW) all the time, which means as many vegs and starchy foods as you please, but you have to cut on milk and cheese. Eggs are free, and it's best if you choose your sauces, desserts etc with a maximum 3% fat. That's the basics, you'll see a lot of info in the links the others have pointed out to you.

Lois, I see the thread is as alive as ever... lovely! I am afraid I was involved in two address changes recently, but at last everything's sorted out, including my broadband, and I am happy again! Yiiiiha!
