:o A blonde moment. I've got Paul McKenna's I can make you thin and that has a CD with it but I haven't listened to it yet (only had it a year) I was wanting to know if these are any good or if they work

    It depends on the individual.

I used his craving busting technique to gave up crisps and smoking. Haven't smoked for 11 months. Had the occasional crisp but I used to eat a packet a day and I never buy them for myself.
Unfortunately I can't get it to work for lager but I'll keep trying as that's what's keeping me fat.

I also find listening to the cd very relaxing and am brimming with energy afterwards.

I was reading a book about dieting (yes again:D , I got 6 of them from the library;) ) anyway there is an article in there on cravings and it says that dieters crumble when they think they need such and such food when actually if you logically look at it it is only one thing they crave i.e......if your mind can only see a cooked breakfast of bacon, eggs, fried bread, toast, mushrooms, tomatoes etc it is not all of it you crave.....think harder what if you were offered it all would just one thing satisfy you and for you to feel that is the one most thing you would want? For me the choice would be bacon, :D keep the rest (this also is supposed to keep the calories in check as if you only choose the one item that you think you need the most the calorie damage is not so large);)

Just for the sake of discussion.
I don't see how that could work at all. You'd invaribly go for the fattiest/sweetest/saltiest thing.

To take your examples. With the breakfast you're rejecting the toast, tomatoes and mushrooms and eggs which are good for you and give the meal balance.

Same with the fish and chips.

I'm curious though, what's the name of the book?

Yeah!! Congrats malima and hugs to ajaxgeezer but it's only a blip and we always have blips at some point.

LOL Suggs. I organise the stands for our trade shows and I've previously been told that we don't need any chairs on the stand. I've always insisted that if they expect me to go I expect to have a chair to sit on :rotfl: I always get one. I feel for you seriously - I couldn't stand up all day^^

Hi Petrichor - bear with me, this is going to be a long(ish) story, but I'll try to keep it brief! :)

I had my lightbulb moment in 2001 when my weight had reached an all time high and I decided something had to be done. Up to that point I'd spent my whole life trying one diet after another, and basically yoyo dieting - everytime I lost weight I'd put more back on.

I joined SW and managed to lose 6.5 stone in 18 months, and although I was still technically overweight I was satisfied with that and became a target member. I made the mistake of thinking that I could maintain on my own, so I stopped going to class. I was doing ok for over a year, but then a family crisis rocked my life and as always in times of stress I turned to food for comfort, and before long I'd put on 2.5 stone.

When I first joined the Lose Weight thread (I can't even remember what number we were on then - 5, 6 maybe..?), I decided that starting from scratch would be more motivating. Then a couple of weeks ago I decided that theory wasn't working, and I needed to recognise the fact that although I regained 2.5 stone, I'm still 4 stone lighter than I was when I saw the light and it seems to be working, as I've managed to lose weight two weeks in a row for the first time in ages :D

In answer to your question, I'd like to get back to where I was - a total weight loss of 91 pounds.

    Thanks for asking. :)

    Hi Lois

Thanks for sharing this :A , I think that the majority of us here can see ourselves in your story but you certainly hit the right note when you found a positive aspect in that you had been a lot heavier. This should show us all that it's good to keep re-evaluating, as at certain times different things, that perhaps never worked for us before, can reinvigorate the desire to lose weight.

It really is a way of life for the majority of us, but at least the weight has started to come off again:T . We're just glad that you're here with us :D

I wish that I could be the oldest AND wisest....sadly it's not the latter :p but my time will come _party_ wooooh hoooh! Beware!!!!!!!

Okay, I'll join in here as well :D

I think it's actually a good idea and would work. It doesn't matter if you choose the fattiest/sweetest/saltiest thing. The point is you'd only have 1 item instead of the whole. Using your examples:-

To take your examples. With the breakfast you're rejecting the toast, tomatoes and mushrooms and eggs which are good for you and give the meal balance.

When you think of a cooked breakfast you always think of the whole thing and think of it as a 'fried' meal (I still do and I haven't fried anything in oil for years). If I had to pick just one item (which I'd simply die without eating there and then :rotfl:) I'd also go for the bacon and reject the fried bread, fried egg, fried mushrooms, toast with half a pound of butter spread on it:eek: . I'd get pushy and have the tomatoes as well 'cos I'd expect them to be tinned and free :j

Same with the fish and chips.

This choice is easy. If I said I wanted fish and chips but was told to think about it a pick 1 item but not both to satisfy me I'd go for the fish.

I think it would be a good thing for me to try to put into practice really.
