I have to question the likelihood of getting compensation above the lost interest. I doubt that you'd be able to get anything more out of them by complaining, but if you do, let me know ;)

Got a call from Barclays this afternoon, they have offered to give me the difference in interest on my isa, as if I have put £3000 in ( £55 ).Decided to take them up on their offer, didn't fancy having to ring them everytime I put some money in anyway.

I'm intrigued to know, where this 10% was you were getting for a month or so...

If you're getting that much, unless you're a higher rate tax payer, it would be better to leave it there, wouldn't it?

Aegis is right, 6 & a bit from Barclays at the time once backdated & 4 & a bit from the account the money was sat in while waiting to be cashed.

So Barclays may be a bunch of incompetent morons, but at least they are being true with their rate rises. http://www.personal.barclays.co.uk/BRC1/jsp/brccontrol?task=homefreegroup&value=12333&target=_self&site=pfs

I'm so vexed so sorry if this is the wrong forum I am posting in. Ignoring the length of time it has taken me to open this account now everytime I go into the branch to pay into this I have an argument with them as they say they I can't pay in over the counter as they don't know how much i've paid in. Today I was sent away after the idiots done this again and i've really had enough now!

Complaint letter on the way to them. Has anyone else had any problems paying in additional amounts or have most people just paid the full amount in the beginning?

I would be interested to hear your experiences:mad:

Liz33, I've just used BACS for paying in additional amount, hubby too. No problems. Can you do it this way?

Providing you know the account number and sort code, just pop along to a branch and fill in a deposit slip. I have had no problems with this route. Just don't mention the word ISA¬
Liz33, here's a post from earlier on in this thread that might help.

Three months later and I have a letter saying both accounts are now closed, along with a cheque for £1.03 (the £1 I tried to open the account with, plus interest). The letter says that I am able to open a 2007/8 ISA elsewhere so I shall be keeping this safe in case HMRC try to take tax from the Egg ISA I opened in the middle of all this...

    Good luck to all!

Further to this message, I rang again today as I haven't yet received confirmation that my account has been closed.

    Guess what?

They opened another one for me on 4th May - three days after I spoke to the guy who told me the account was closed! They've paid in my £1 cheque too. I've told them to close this new account. God knows when I'll see my £1 again!

I'm a little confused. I put £3000 in this ISA for the previous tax year so what should I do for this tax year? Could I put more money in this? What will happen when the year on the ISA is up - can I add £3000 to it and will the account still pay over 7%?

    Questions questions!

Yes you can i believe, you get £3,000 (rising to £3,600) to deposit every TAX year in a ISA.
