    Car Insurance Carver!
Applied in branch today with my online printed form. No excessive questioning, just wanted my income and housing situation. Only opened with £250 as I'm waiting for a regular saver to mature so I can fill it up in a couple of weeks.

i really can't see why they need to know salary details etc.

it's not like they're lending you money!!

if they ask me i'll just say i don't wish to disclose that information and i can't see why it's relevant.

I applied for this account about two weeks ago and up to yesterday I heard nothing from the bank. However I decided to ring the dept dealing with these applications. I gave the advisor all my details and asked her to advise whether the account was now open. The advisor then confirmed my salary and wanted to know how much I cleared each month. At that point I started to get really p..sed off and told her to stick to the matter in hand and not try and sell me other products.

Well, I went into today to trace my 3k cheque.....
This being the one that they said the couldn't accept, because the ISA hadn't been entered onto the system at the branch....
It had been sent back already..
However, he didn't do anymore clicking n clackin on his keyboard today, than he did last time either....
However, he did wander off and I saw him take a photo copy of my ID...
I think this is the real reason it was returned to the branch....
He said they'd destroyed it all, at head office. Yah right....

Sounds like he'd !!!!!!ed up to me....
"If it was my fault I'd tell you. I checked with head office, they said it didn't need to be entered on our system here, in the branch"

Also, the website says that one can view details of the ISA online..... However it also says you can get through to a branch. You can't......

Still dated for the 22nd though. I'll double check on Thursday

I went into barclays today (tues) with my mother to open the tax beater isa. All went well until they asked for her NI no. shes has got one but not with her. Anyway, I had to take the form home to fill in the NI no. and sending it out tomorrow.
A few days ago I called barclays CS on behalf of a friend to ask if you needed a NI no. to open an isa. Their reply was "no" as long as you are a UK resident. So, I have had 2 different answer for staff at barclays... yes and no.

Can someone give me a definate answer on this one please. I need to know cos a friend of mine wants to open an isa, she doesn't have a NI no. but resident in uk.

    On the form it says:
We cannot process your application without your National Insurance number (if you have one).
Do you have a National Insurance number? yes, no..
