I agree.........thats part of my point. If its way above him then is it a pipe dream? To be applying so much time to a cv without the advantages of experience will somehow be empty! he hasn't reached the end of his course, he hasn't got masses of experience in the job advertised (he has admitted that) but maybe he has enthusiasm that will bring the reward, maybe someone will take pity on him and offer it to him.
They may see it as a cost cutting exercise as he will be cheaper per hour/month than someone who has the experience and qualifications or just 1 of those.
Yes true, thing is i dont know what sort of job he want to do or what qualifications he'll have on leaving uni, so if ya can let me know phil coz i'm commenting without knowing the full facts here:o

I dont know really what I can do as I am never going to even get taken on as a Temp agency as I can word process at any speed that they would require. Therefore, looking for a job that does not require typing skills and that I can use my experience and passion to overcome my lack of office experence as I can see no way I can get office experience.
so is the job a junior position?

what specifically does the job require, what is the actual wording on the advert.
Its easy tbh to gain office experience. Go to any sports club/charity and offer your services, tell them you are willing to do anythin to gain office knowledge.
Even your church has to keep a small set of books, they would be willing to give yousome time and skills.

Phil, have you been to a temp agency? i done loads of work through temping, i even got my job working for a motor finance company through being a temp there, i was only 16 fresh out of school, well a year after i left, but i was still 16.
You dont have to have fast typoing speeds unless the job requires it and not all jobs do hun.

Phil, you may not have office experience as such but i'm sure your pretty computer illiterate and coupled with your knowledge of the sector could swing you the job, it was silly of me to compare the sort of jobs i do to yours as they are tottally different, if a job which i would think of is advertised and specifies you need an NVQ 3, you wont get it even with lots of experience.
EDIT - i hope you dont think i'm being mean as i'm not, just trying to help :)

I dont think you are being mean. I know I am no use to most people as an employee but I have to try and see if I can get a job to keep my spirits up and to keep a bit of hope. I have a lot to offer someone in a job but I just feel I have no solid way to prove it to people as they want these types of experiences I don't have.

isn't it time you stopped watching 1970's films? temping isn't working in a typing pool banging out letters all day. You don't need to 'word process' at any speed as office jobs vary.

I don't class that as a reasonable answer, I have tried to help you here.
