I find applying for jobs hard because I am not good at making myself out to be wonderful and perfect like CV's and interviews require.

Dont be flippant or sarcastic  We are all in the same boat

There is no need to be so mean to me.

I am just try to work out how long it might take me to find a job.

I am sure at some point in your life you did not know everything about jobs and the world like you do now as you are now perfect.
phil, phil, phil, please dont do this to yourself, you are asking quiestions that cannot be answered properly, or questions that could be answered by google (height)
As others said it depends on the type of job you apply for and wether you are suited to it, some places will employ anyone whereas some wont, tbh i haven't properly applied for a job and never got it, but also have been lucky as most of my earlier jobs i got from knowing people that work there.
The 3 care jobs i have had were basically because they always need staff and i have very good references and am very good at my job (if i do say so myself!) although no formal qualifications yet.
Dont bother applying for a job which you know you wont be able to do.

In sp's defence he has no skills/experience but he should make up for this in enthusiasm!

I'm not going to read all the blahing thread but if its being advertised at Uni theres a fair chance they are not expecting a lot of experienced candidates to apply, but on the other hand, a job advertised on campus may attract a lot of applications as its so handy for Uni......

no i dont mean it like that, i mean dont apply for a job you know you cant do as in, applying for a job that wants 1 years experience or certain qualifications.
I had no skills or experience when i started work, i havent got one qualification to my name, and there would be no point in me applying for a job which specifies i have to have NVQ level 3 as i wont get it.

To be fair all the jobs I have applied for are ones that are at the bottom of career leader and you only need GCSEs to do(expect one which is graduate scheme in a charity for grads- which I hold out little hope of getting anywhere with). So really as I have good A levels and 3/4 of a degree I should be qualified enough for them. I know I do not have a lot of experience , but I am willing to have a go at things and to prove myself.

I agree.........thats part of my point. If its way above him then is it a pipe dream? To be applying so much time to a cv without the advantages of experience will somehow be empty! he hasn't reached the end of his course, he hasn't got masses of experience in the job advertised (he has admitted that) but maybe he has enthusiasm that will bring the reward, maybe someone will take pity on him and offer it to him.
They may see it as a cost cutting exercise as he will be cheaper per hour/month than someone who has the experience and qualifications or just 1 of those.

The job I have my heart set on does ask for office experience (which I don't have) however, it is in a sector that I know a lot about and I think that is probably not a quality that someone with tons of office experience can bring. I think I have a huge strength in I have a passion and a good knowledge of the sector which probably not many others can bring.
