Sorry, but imho not declaring won't do you any favours either.:undecided
If you think you are being discriminated against because of a disability there are routes to take through the DRC. If you disclose a disability beforehand, employers can try to take positive action. If your disability actually makes applying for jobs difficult, they need to know that surely?

I agree, but on application forms with no disability sector it is hard to declare it anyway until the interview stage. Plus for a job that might involve a bit of carrying them seeing I am disabled won't help me get picked will it?
I got my Mum to write out the application form for me so it would be nice and neat as I can not write on tiny lines like are on there.:beer:0 -
Ok Phil but I still refer you to my earlier post about seeking help and advice from the disability employment experts - if you PM me with where you are I'll try and give you a name and number ok

Any thoughts are welcome!!!
I thought the only job you'd applied for was in your Uni, and that's why you needed help with your CV?

Ok I know this is tiresome, and I don't know the full history from which the evident antipathy towards Phil comes but...
If I understand correctly, Phil, you have a disability of some sort? Can I therefore suggest that instead of dealing with temp agencies and careers advisors who know little about disabled jobseekers you request to see the Disability Employment Advisor at your jobcentre (not just any advisor). He/she will be able to get you support with cvs, interviews and access to work payments to enable employers to support you. He/she will put you in touch with probably another organisation who runs the jobcentreplus work preparation and workstep programme and will in the future run the new work programmes.
good luck

Employers are not allowed to discriminate because of disability, so you should declare it from the start.
They are not likely to be impressed with any candidate who has withheld information.
It's also a good idea to fill out any application forms yourself - they will soon twig on that your writing is different to that on the form.
Be honest about yourself with them - "lying" at interviews only works when you are older, wiser and more experienced as to how they work........

But then you could be over qualified and experienced, hence not getting a job, it's all in getting the balance right, if you're too qualified for the post the person in charge may think you are after their job and so not hire you.studentphil wrote: »I know the biggest bit of luck you need in getting a job is someone not as qualified and experienced as you applying. Why pay full price when you may get it YS
