Do you reckon it's possible to open some BoS accounts as well as having the LTSB's?

Absolutely. Several posters have 3 of each. I have 3 LTSB & 1 BOS but intend to open another 2 BOS shortly :).

    Yes.

I have applied today for my first BOS Classic Vantage (needs to be Vantage for the interest). The application asks for a lot of specific info on the applicant's finances and what he/she will use the account for.

Some people seem to keep only £6000 in each account so how do they pay for the day to day needs like fuel for the car, food. goods
That's what credit cards are for! ;)
    and credit card payments etc.
My credit card payments are 1% of the balance (because I have a 0% on purchases card). I make this rather small payment from 'petty cash' and save the other 99% in an account making me 2.8% AER gross.

Why would you want to spend your own money, which could otherwise be making you more money, when you can spend someone elses (for 12-15 months)?

Your right!! I tend to use cash for most of the every day spending but could use my Aqua credit card which gives me 3% cashback

Do you guys just setup direct debits between the accounts? I only have 1 account (of 3) earning 4% right now - no direct debits on any other account

Yes. You had to have 2 DDs on each account by 31/10/12 to qualify for the 4%. Too late for you to qualify now. Details earlier in this thread.

Just to confirm for some people as there are the same sort of questions popping up.

I have spoken to lloyds in branch about why I was getting £15.65 sometimes and £15.32 other times. Interest in calculated on a daily basis, so if you have £6k (doesnt change for whole month) it will either be 28 day of interest of 31 days depending on the month. The max you can get for £6K in there at %4 after tax is £16 per month.

If you have £6050 in there, you will still get interest, but you just wont get interest on any balances over £6k.

The vantage accounts used to be £7k each back in the day. I miss that.

Ah! Thanks Vort - not too bad though, 3% interest is still actually a pretty good return, especially since I can instantly access the money if needed :)
