Just logged in for 1st time since these posts, - I'm not seeing the option to upgrade my 'Classic' to Vantage (ie Vantage no.2) only to 'Silver'.
Can anyone advise, am I missing something?
As per an earlier suggestion, I'll open 3 Vantages if I can.
click on the blue "Upgrade account" icon
at the bottom of the page click on Compare with all accounts
at the bottom of the page Classic with Vantage click on "Upgrade now""A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

I set up a standing order from a Santander account to my First Direct Regular Saver;- money left, but was returned. I got a statement from Santander saying "invalid detail", but no explanation. I've checked sortcode & account number are ok. Should it work, or does the money into the R/Saver have to be an internal transfer?0

I'm sure it needs to be an internal transfer.
I recently (very belatedly) opened a FD account and then their Regular Saver. I also found that the date of the monthly transfer into the RS cannot be changed (it's in the T&Cs) - ie it stays the same as the day in the month of the first transfer.0 -
I'm sure it needs to be an internal transfer.
The gotcha is that new SOs don't show up on the website until they've been paid.
If the first SO payment isn't funded or covered by the overdraft limit, they may just quietly decline it and switch you on to a pathetic interest rate, so come the year end you find you've earned 20p."It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be. But it's no longer the individual banks that are in the wrong, it's the banking industry as a whole." - Steven Cooper, head of personal and business banking at Barclays, talking to Martin Lewis0 -
Ok, thanks for the answers both.0

Just going off down south and checked all my Vantage accounts - all three are showing £16.54 interest.
Today I have checked and the interest on all three is £15.51. I've phoned the bank and the adviser told me that the only thing she can think of is that it's paid per calendar month and December has fewer days than November! Even I can spot the error of her ways there!
All three were maxed at £6K with no drop below and all having the required DD activity.
Told to ring back after 8.00a.m. to speak to a different department.0 -

That makes November 32 days and December 30 days, so expect 30/32 = 15/16 of what you got last time."It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be. She's right. Interest is paid up to the first working day of the month, so November started on the 1st, December on the 3rd and January on the 2nd.

How you've explained it makes sense - how the advisor explained it did not!
I'll get the hang of this by the time the 12 months are up.
Many thanks.

Just logged into my and my wife's 3 accounts (each)
All three of mine have the interest paid-NONE of hers has!
No change from last month, all accounts have DD's setup.
Anyone else "missing" their interest? :eek:0 -
Interest paid today on all 7 of our accounts, but it was lower than last months which surprised me as is 31 days, but assume it is something to do with interest payment dates and Christmas..:undecided
Strange thing though is that one account that had dropped lower than the the 6k but not under 5k for some days last month has actually more interest than my others on full 6k for whole month.0
