I sent my request for a breakdown of charges at the end of March with a cheque which was cashed by them on 5th April. I have now received a letter from them after the 40 days telling me that due to a back log it is going to take a further 10-14 working day to deal with. I'm not happy with this and was wondering whether or not to give them the extra time or just go straight to the information commissioner with my complaint?0

Same here - I rang after 40 days to be told the 40 days starts from the day they receive the cheque - this still took them over the 40 days at which point they start with --lots of requests blah blah ....working as fast as they can blah..blah.. you will have the statements in the next 4-6 weeks. I put the phone down and wrote to them posted the same day( friday) telling them they have until the following wednesday to send them or they are in breach and I will report them. Next wednesday I recived the statements by recorded delivery. My husband got a letter the same day full of "sorry for delay..blah..blah.. lots of requests for statements etc ..will get yours in next 4-6 weeks. I again posted another letter saying you have 5 days to send them otherwise you are in breach and I will report you - they arrived on the 5th day by recorded delivery. They will stall and take it to the limit every time. I have given them 7 days to refund my money - which is up on saturday so on monday - I put it into court.:T
Give them another 5 days - it'll probably take longer than that anyway if you report them. - bet you get them if you threaten to report them!0 -
Do you have a template of the letter that you sent to them megan34?0

Hi all i am in process of a MCOL claim (which citicard have acknowledged) and i just wanted to say to those starting out... persist! Keep sending them letters reminding them of their obligations, keep complaining to info commissioner as eventually they will have to take action for repeated breaches. And also, keep a record of the time and cost acutally involved by you in chasing their inability to comply with your requests as later in the process if your claim reaches court you may be able to claim some costs back. also, for anyone that isn't aware of it, check out the consumer action group and their threads on citicard.... very useful, aswell as this forum, naturally.
Remember though, citicard are good at stalling and putting people of claiming, and they will make you work hard for your money. so be prepared to work, wait and fight for your money back from these guys.
but don't give up heart as the CAG shows that people succeed against citicard. Good luck all.Sorry but please keep your signature to 4 lines in length - MSE Forum Team 20 -
As far as I'm aware, apart from Citibank, no institutions have entered into any sort of useful dialog about the charges before court. God knows people have tried to engage them, but it does show they only send out standard replies.
Hi
Could you please give me details for Citibank, I noticed you mentioned them in your thread.
I had an old loan with them which will be 6 years up in July (so get in quick). But can not find any details for them.
Thanks.0 -
I wrote to Citicard requesting list of charges on March 24th. I called on the 41st day and was told someone would contact me within 2 days. Complaint sent to ICO May 8th. Letter received from Citi on May 11th saying sorry for delay and would send requested info in 10 - 14 days. Letter sent to Citi May 22nd saying nothing arrived yet. Today, ICO letter received saying complaints being sent in batches as there were so many! Mine is in a batch being sent end of May.:j Proud to be dealing with my debts:j0

Hi all,
I need some advice. I sent my original letter asking for money back from CitiCard about 4 months ago whilst I went abroad for work. Returned back to UK & sent a letter along with charges schedule demand payment around 6 weeks ago. Then last week I sent them a letter stating that if they don't pay up within 14 days I'll take them to court.
Today I received a response from Office of Chief Executive saying that he needs to get my statements from archives and this could take up to 8 weeks?! Is this to put me off so that I forget about the whole thing? The trouble is I sent everything via normal post so have no proof of postage.
Should I simply put in money claim or wait?0 -
You can't put a claim in if you don't know how much it is. You need the statements to work out an accurate figure, you can't just estimate it.

Hi there 1st time poster on the forum. We are in the middle of claiming bank charges back from Bank of Scotland and although they are of course dragging their feet, we are slowly getting there.
However we are also trying to reclaim charges from Citycard . We got in touch about 3 months ago and requested a list of all charges over the last 5 years, the cheque for £10 cleared within two days from our account but still no statements from them.
we have phoned up to complain on numerous occasions and have also got onto the Financial Ombudsman to try and chase them up, but they are totally ignoring us and keep saying "there is a backlog, we don't know when you'll get them."
Does anybody know the best course of action to take in this instance to get them to supply us a list of our charges?
Great site,BTW thanks0 -
Hi,
I've just been on the phone to Citicards - to a very helpful bloke to be honest! I'm trying to claim back £1353. I've had and sent back copy statements with all my charges highlighted, what they're saying is that they will only refund the difference after £12, which works out to just over £500. This seems to be a common reply by Citicards. Has anyone gone to court yet about this and had an outcome, one way or another?
I had a full refund from MBNA, and also Marbles, Citicards are the last of the bunch...
Good luck everyone!
