Thank you for this, very interesting, I can see that as I look to buying replacement products I am going to have to do a lot more research, trouble is I now feel I need a lot more help from the high-tech stuff. Off now to try and find a source for Dr Bronner instead of L'Occitane liquid soap, so far from civilisation, but will phone the health food stores locally or possible try Faith in Nature, local Oxfam sells that.

HQHair or ASOS sells it I think...

Wow I havn't had a chance to look at this thread yet and we're already on page 4!

I'm in for another month, July was a shocker for me with only 3 UUs and far too many INs (thanks to my L'Occitane evening).

Speaking of L'Occitane, they're running another of their skincare consultation things 14th-16th August, I booked mine this morning.

Might be a bit quiet this month, struggling with life. My 18-month-old daughter has hit her terrible twos, marriage is rocky (waiting for a Relate session), work is hard, debts are getting me down and I feel generally crappy. Add to that the grief I'm getting off an Ebay buyer who didn't like a pair of shoes she bought off me and it's not a happy place inside my head right now. But we soldier on for lack of an alternative. :)

Hugs, sorry you are having a rough time, I guess all you can do is keep plodding on, smile at everyone you meet, hopefully they will smile back (it is proven that smiling does make us feel better - endorphins or something), with luck some good karma will come your way, lots of support from here I am sure.:D

Thanks for this - makes for an interesting read - I think I may have to probe further in to the products I use

I think my first thought to this was 'good for you'. I have to wash my hair everyday as it is fine and looks dreadful otherwise and I am not prepared to look dreadful for the sake of it. Toothpaste - £2 a year - seriously - my teeth are here to stay I hope and I use a good toothpaste to ensure they do. Deoderant - £1 a year - I think I use a spray can in a month a roll on probably lasts 3 months so I don't think there is any way you can use it everyday. I just won't be smelly for the sake of it.

I don't drink a lot, don't smoke at all, don't take drugs, don't have lavish holidays or nights out, don't eat tonnes of takeaways so spending on beauty luxuries is my little indulgence.

I totally agree with you. I think I'd rather be clean than saving money :rotfl:

Thanks for the Cruelty Free Article, I need to look more closely at this, especially when I come to re purchase items. I don't think its fair for a company to say they don't test on animals when they know that someone else is testing their products on Animals.
  • Hugs to everyone who needs it this week. Hope everything gets better!!!

I am off work today and woke up to my sunswap package. Every single thing in the box was so perfect for me, and I absolutely am so thankful to my secret buddy. THANK YOU SO MUCH !!!!!!!!!

sorry things are bad but at least you are going to relate so hope that works(my DH refuses to go...."I have nothing to say"!!!!what can you do?moved into the spare room and actually enjoying sleep without being kept awake by his snores:rotfl:he arrogantly said "you will be back"!....makes me more determined not to.
no wonder you feel bad with work and a toddler and debt, think this is a place we can all have a moan knowing nothing will get back to OHs.
treat yourself to something from your stash instead of keeping it for special, remember pink candle, think I will follow my own advice tonight,DH asked if I would be in when he came home so I said would you even notice?(he is so obsessed with olympics which is strange as never watches sport normally!!!)

btw reason I 2popped" in was to say it is Clinique bonus time at Boots not that I or anyone else is interested!!!

Catriona, sorry you're having a bad time at the moment :(. Life is difficult when things start to grind you down. How DH and I survived toddlers is beyond me really. We never argued more than then when we were both exhausted and skint. Life improved for us as the kids got older and we had a defined financial plan for our future. I found that a sense of humour helped us both too.
Interestingly, my SIL got hammered the other evening and was moaning that her DH never says she looks nice and when she mentions the size of her tummy and holiday, he just says she has time to do something about it. I soothed her, told her she was a wally and that we lover her anyway and pointed out that all men are like that. They don't understand our need to have compliments and if we offer a problem, they'll offer a solution.
My way around DH and compliments is to get dressed up and say "wow, I look great, don't I? :D" to which the reply is generally, "yes, you look alright!"

Don't want to sound like a smug married but my DH will do me until the end of time, warts and all :)
