I'd like to hope their parents have been 'spoken to' as well..
Why? Their parents did not make the call!Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0 -
I did think it was a hoax too, wanted to say earlier but have been looking after a poorly 2 year old
there was just too much info given. I also think the police knew it was a hoax hence the delay in reporting it perhaps? Maybe the girls could meet people who have genuinely used 999 to save a life or something? I think they should be educated as to why it's so wrong. But then again maybe they are scrotes who just don't care... 0 -
I think the identity of the hoaxers should be made public. Maybe someone will name them, even if not officially..
OK they are only 10, but that's old enough to know the difference between right and wrong. I think they need to learn that there could have been consequences to what they did.
I wonder if ten years from now these kids are going to look back and laugh.. "oo, do you remember that time we called the emergency services and pretended to be a 3 year old, and everyone got involved looking for the mum.."
What will publicly naming a pair of 10 year old girls achieve? Other than possibly teasing / bullying from other kids.Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0 -

Of course cos nothing teaches kids to behave more than violence ! Kids back in your day when hidings were allowed were never naughty or broke the law right!?Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0 -
Wonder if you will post an apology to the police?
If you think that they didn't try and check hospitals, GP's etc then you don't really have any concept of how they operate. Police deal with calls like this every single day however most of them can be dealt with quickly as they are either real or a false alarm (ie child doing it by accident). All avenues would have been exhausted before launching a public appeal.
Why would I apologise to the police, the information I read at the time of posting did not mention they had gown down those avenues. The fact it took them so long to realise a hoax says enough about the police.Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0 -
well.. I kind of feel like I'm stating the obvious here :rotfl:but
the parents should be spoken to because they are responsible for their children.
(is it me...?)
Of course they should be spoken to but you was coming across as though the parents were to blame and should be punished / told off .
Maybe you think the parents deserve a hiding too ? :rotfl:Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0 -

oh, no, heaven forbid anyone should be punished or told off for ringing up the 999 service and stringing them along for half an hour, setting off a nationwide hunt for 2 people who don't exist and taking emergency services away from people who might actually have been in real danger
I think the person who mentioned the hiding was just saying how kids these days don't seem to get punished like they used to, and hence they don't fear any consequences. And kids being kids, they take that as a green light to just do whatever they like.0 -

Lots of parents don't see much of their 10 year olds though, so they have no idea what their children are actually doing. They buy them a mobile phone and off they go out to play.
I used to go out to play without adult supervision when I was 10, and that was the age when my eldest first started to play out with his friends.52% tight0
