W. Yorkshire Police appeal over 3yr old 999 call

I remember trying to phone a friend one night on the really decrepit old phone at my parents house. The 9 stuck down and somehow 999 was dialled, as soon as the operator answered I paniced, hung up without saying anything and ran off and pretended nothing had happened. A wee while later the police rocked up wondering what was going on. I had to show them the phone with the button stuck down to prove I wasn't deliberatly pranking them. I got a ticking off and was told not to hang up on the emergency services ever again and to just confess if I dial them by accident.
Hope they managed to trace the wee girl.0

I suppose the issue with tracing the cellphone is that if they pinpoint it to a built up area of say 1,000 addresses (lots of tower blocks in Leeds I believe that could easily have Court in the name) while they can knock on every door despite the time it takes the girl clearly doesn't know how to unlock the door to let them in, so the emergency services are dependent on the girl somehow being able to alert them to her presence and situation in the house so that they can knock the door down to enter the house.
Many doors that they knock on will be out and there will be no answer. While I personally don't think I'd care much if the police kicked my door in to try and save a mother and child's life, no doubt many would and therefore bashing down the door of every home where there is no answer isn't feasible.
Hopefully, someone will be able to provide the information that can lead the emergency services to the right address and hopefully something can be done. If anything, by alerting the public to the situation, it might at least encourage friends of mother's with three year old children to check on them.0

Just highlighting the above inforation which seens to be more accurate that that given by the BBC.
How difficult would it have been for the Police yesterday to have contacted the radio to put out some info on this child!0

It's entirely possible that a 3 year old has got the address wrong, or maybe they're moved and she hasn't learnt the new address and is giving part of an old one.... no one knows!
It's a shame to start slating the Police on here when they're clearly doing all they can with the methods they have, and are just asking for help to try and speed the process up. We have no idea if the info they have to work on is even correct!
She's only 3 years old and in a panic. She said 23, but maybe it was 33, or 123, anything could have been wrong with what she said.0
