Why the everyday make-up?

This thread and some of the comments really sadden me as it seems as women we should be supporting each other in the decision whether or not to wear make-up. There are those who wear it because it makes them feel good and others who wear it to give them confidence to face the world. On the other side there are those who don't wear it as they are happy in their own skin and others who don't wear it as they lack the confidence to wear it. Wherever you are on that spectrum no-one should be made to feel inferior by their choice.

    I agree.

It doesn't affect other people if you wear make up or not.

I think there is a big difference between wearing make-up to correct flaws, and wearing it to make a statement. My objective is to use it in such a way that it looks like I'm not wearing it, but has the effect of making me look more as nature intended, not less.

I wouldn't want it to look obvious that I'm wearing it, although artificial eyebrows are easily spotted close-up, but I can't help that. From a distance I hope I just look like someone who still has eyebrows! I've thrown away no end of blushers because they looked unnatural when applied, likewise with lipsticks - I often wear two at the same time, a lighter one to tone down one that is too dark. Mainly though it's to even up my skin tone, cover the blotches and broken veins, and stop my nose shining - not a good look I'm sure most would agree.

I dont get why some people have a massive chip on their shoulder about women wearing it every day. Jealousy possibly? I mean really, why would you care??

Not sure why you quoted my post in respect of this ^ comment? I certainly don't have any chips on my shoulders or anywhere else! What other people choose to do is entirely up to them.

I only wear mascara because I'm naturally blonde and my eyes look like fag burns in a blanket without it. I put on lippy as well when I go out. I wouldn't say I'd never leave the house without make up, but I prefer how I look with it on - that's all.

Never realised until I read this thread that (some) other women care so much whether someone else makes up or not. Nobody has ever commented on my make up, or lack of.

Some people seem to feel the need to apply some deep psychological reason to simple everyday things. Says more about them I reckon.....;)
Love the animals: God has given them the rudiments of thought and joy untroubled. Do not trouble their joy, don't harrass them, don't deprive them of their happiness.

Haha no. The way you described your make up is actually pretty much the same as me.

I doubt if many women wear make-up every single day, it is probably just every day that you see them - i.e. when they go to work. I wear make-up to work, nothing heavy but the basics (foundation, eye-liner, mascara and lip gloss), so colleagues may think the same about me. However you won't find me made up when I'm at home, or at the gym (when they don't see me), my face is naked.

    I do.

I would not set foot out the house without it and even if I was not planning to leave the house that day I would wear it. I am as unlikely to not wear make up as I would be to not wash my face or clean my teeth in the morning when I get up.

I wear minimal makeup for work: BB cream which also works as concealer and contains SPF40, blusher, mascara and tinted lip balm. But that depends if i'm in a front or back office, how dressed-up the office is, etc. If no-one else wears makeup I don't tend to bother with it either. For going out I tend to wear vivid eyeshadows, flicky eyeliner, dark lipstick & maybe some glitter or bindis. It's quite theatrical at times.

On no-makeup days I wear heavy sunscreen & some powder on top to take the shine off. On cloudy winter days I go barefaced.
Public appearances now involve clothing. Sorry, it's part of my bail conditions.

Some people like myself enjoy the whole process of applying makeup. I feel it allows me to use my creative side, its a piece of art in a way. However unlike body art such as piercing and tattoo's (don't dislike these just not for me) you can wipe it off.

I enjoy getting ready for a night out just as much as the night out itself. I love trying out different looks and how it can change how you feel or look. Makeup can be used to alter face shapes, such as slim your nose down or so on rather than go down the plastic surgery route which is pretty incredible.

I have worn makeup since I was in my early teens and am in my 20's now. Just as people love fashion or shoes etc, I love makeup. In fact am about to study it this September to make a professional living out of it.

Plus alot of makeup has spf and vitamins and so in nowdays so actually is good for your skin :)
