It's very easy with some of the browsers to accidentally enter a previously used value as they cache them and try to save you time by highlighting them under the input box.
We get it all the time at work, I even did it myself the other day when trying to track a parcel I'd sent

I'm certainly not calling you a liar but there is always a chance of human error. I have not heard of this happening to anyone previously so my conclusion is that it is 'unlikely'.
What is the human error that you are suggesting? Are you suggesting that the OP checked in for a flight in the past? If so, that's impossible; it doesn't let you.

Was it the same friend on the actual Seville booking previously?

How about something as simple as printing the wrong PDF file ?

Because the terms and conditions you agree to, state that you must check-in and print your boarding card not less than 4 hours before departure time.........simples

But if you have checked in already, I see know reason why they prevent you simply accessing your account and printing a PDF of the boarding pass. Surely that would make no difference to their systems.

I don't think you've read the entire thread. As already stated by the OP:

This should not have been possible as the boarding passes it created were for 9 months earlier and you can't re-print up to 4 hours before a flight. The folder clearly says 20.07.20.12 9.30am.
A flight in the past would not have its boarding pass available to save on the above date, so this cannot be human error by the OP.

That proves nothing, there has already been mention of 'PDF' and 'download folder' so it may have already existed. Look, I'm not saying I am correct, just offering an alternative view on what may have gone wrong.

I'll ask you this, how many times have you heard of the Ryanair website generating the wrong boarding passes ? I have never heard of this happening to anyone.

Also, for the record, I do not use Ryanair (not for 3 years anyway) because I hate their attitude towards customers, so I am not just coming on here to defend them.

    But .........

If the PDF that Ryanair lets you download has the same name as one that's already downloaded [from the previous flight] and still on your PC, it's possible that the second one was ignored.
Usually you get a dialogue box asking what you want to do, keep the original or over-write with the new.
It would only happen if the file names were the same though

The timestamp shows it was downloaded recently.

It wasn't already on his PC. As the OP said above, the check-in for the recent flight was done on a different PC from the old flight.
