Insanity Workouts

Time for me to step out the shadows and confess I have just completed Day 6 of Insanity having started it on Monday.... wow, what a hard workout it really is.
I didn't know I could sweat like water out of a tap, I must be so unfit.
I am so looking forward to having tomorrow off
I have to admit I didn't take any "before" photo's and my scales aren't working, must need a new battery, but you get such a sense of accomplishment after each workout.
I can't do what Shaun does on screen exactly but give it my best shot. I'm not superman.
Its also confusing as he is talking to you and like says now lean to the left as if he IS personally instructing you, but then he and all the others working out lean the opposite way! Must be just me that can't get that still? I must have terrible coordination.
I'm also skint and can't afford to follow any kind of diet / nutrition plan, which will probably explain my less than perfect results in 53 days time but I am taking a whey protein shake a day..... probably much cheaper than the Shakeology they keep plugging, so we'll see.
Good luck to everyone else doing this. Anyone brave enough to post their "before" photo's? Didn't think so......

Motivation is the key in completing the program. Five months doing beachbody workouts, I can say that it has changed my body composition and the way I eat and live my life- achieving the best that I can be!
Dig Deep!
Is it really 80% nutrition and 20% exercise?
I've done workouts before, last one I tried was this:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Harvey-Walden-Presents-Fighting-Fit/dp/B000089ARG
And while it improved my endurance and breathing and toned me a little bit, I never "get ripped" as they say.
Again, that must be to do with the fact I'm not doing the nutrition correctly. I'm not stuffing down carp like chocolate, pizza's, takeaways and downing copious amouts of alcohol or anything bad, but I'm not following a proper eating plan either.
I can't afford to take any tailor made products and am vegetarian so please don't suggest eating fish, chicken and meat for protein.
80%? Wow.

It really is. At the end of the day, all fat loss comes down to calorie restriction. You can do that by diet alone or you can add in exercise so that your deficit doesn't have to be as big.
However, it is perfectly possible to lose fat with no exercise and you can definitely lose fat with no cardio, which is what I've achieved over the past few years, dropping 3 and a half stone with a good diet and heavy weight training0 -

Thanks Just a Girl.
You have done great, I just went and checked your blog, fantastic pictures!
Any tips on how I can bulk up please? I'm pretty skinny but doing Insanity to lose my love handles and belly, apart from that I have pipe cleaner arms and am losing weight anyway by being on a Debt Management Plan and living off Smart Prices beans.....0 -

Thanks dude
To bulk up, you have to be eating an excess of calories and some heavy weight lifting. Do you do any weights at all?
If not, it would be a good idea to start. Diet & lots of cardio burn off lean muscle as well as fat which is a disaster in the long term as the less muscle you have, the less calories your body needs to maintain its weight. The flip side of this is that more muscle = higher metabolism = more food, which is good for greedy folk like me :T It's how I maintain my current physique eating 2500 calories per day0 -
Just a girl is right.
Bulking is bulking and cutting is cutting. Catabolic vs Anabolic
Insanity is definitely for cutting fat whereas P90x is more of building muscles.
If you're vegetarian, you need to think of plant based protein- soya, quinoa, broccoli. Check http://scoobysworkshop.com/ - learned a lot from Scooby. His workouts are free if getting P90x is an issue.
It's mainly nutrition- one can always out eat what they exercised. According to research, people also underestimate the calories on what they eat and overestimate the calories burned in an exercise.
Do "before" pictures because it can help you gauge your progress. Scale is the enemy. Weight loss can mean loss of bone density and muscle. What people should aim for is "fat loss". You need to check what is your body fat percentage.
Check out https://www.p90xukusers.co.uk- there's many Before and after photos there.Do Something Amazing- Give Blood0 -
Thank you both. As I am so skint and not eating much, I am losing weight all over (except this flabby stomach, grrrr) and am frighteningly thin, I am always doing my belt an extra tighter notch and my watch is on the second tightest setting. I'm worried I'll have to buy a kids watch soon
Im proud I'm not overweight with lot's of unsightly fat, but am so confused over how to get some muscle back whilst on a strict budget.
I now know it's true that people say if you don't use it - you'll lose it
I do have some body fat scales in the bedroom I bought for when I did the Great Manchester Run, so will get a new battery and also take some before shots - even though I am a week into it. Currently on my "day off" before I start week 2 of Insanity.
Thank you all, so far. This makes a change from me moaning and worrying about my debts etc, but I'm not exactly in a position to start buying special foods and supplements etc.
I'm worried I too skinny and will never get any muscle back.0 -
I just found out that Tony Horton is vegetarian, and look at his shape. Pretty awesome for 54!

Well done for joining us RG! I hope the exercise is making you feel a little more optimistic about things. (Though I've been following your posts on the DFW forum, and if you're not eating enough you need your DMP rearranged...)
Tony definately doesn't look bad for his age, am thinking of trying P90X if I get through Insanity in one piece! Could never be veggie though, am just the opposite lol.
