What have you done so far, what products have you used? Did you shift all the furniture when you sprayed and do all the floors not just carpets?

Have used Frontline Combo on the flea bag cat, used the Wilkos spray in the house, and moved furniture (bar wardrobes), left it down for a week before hoovering back up again. Treated all floors, carpets, vinyl and laminate and sprayed curtains and blinds and couches too. Combing cat and still getting plenty of live ones, albeit smaller ones. But we are now getting bitten :(

Am going to get to staykill from vets this week and do it again on Saturday when hubby home to help with lugging.

    It's just depressing :(

Definitely try different/ better products - don't forget to zap your mattress and car. I hated living in an infested house, I am sure it is particularly aggravating if you were treating your pets religiously not aware of the issues with Frontline. Advocate from the vet is very good.

I spoke to the Vet about Frontline and they said to carry on with it as it can take months... am hoping the Staykill will do the job.

    Thanks for the advice :)

There isn't actually an issue with using Frontline par se, this idea that fleas are resistant to it is mostly borne from people peddling rumours in forums such as these! It is often a result of people not using the product properly, along with a combination of not treating the home effectively too.

As you are aware, tackling a flea infestation is a multi-pronged task using 2-3 different products in the worst case scenarios. If any of the steps, which I've outlined numerous times in various threads, are skipped then it's easy for fleas to escape being killed and go on to lay eggs, further perpetuating the problem. It can take a few months to completely eradicate an infestation especially when numbers are greatly increased as they appear to be this year with the adverse weather conditions we've had.

Hoovering is what is triggering the flea larvae to hatch out and seek food! What you need to do is spray your house thoroughly with a veterinary grade spray such as Indorex, Acclaim or Staykill as soon as you've hoovered then leave it for at least 2 weeks before hoovering again.

In the mean time make sure your dog is treated too. You don't mention which drops you used but if they were from a pet shop they're useless, as is flea shampoo. Again, you need to use a veterinary grade flea treatment such as Frontline or Advantage. Yes, you can use flea tablets (Capstar, Johnsons 4Fleas) at the same time as using a topical application. These will kill any fleas on the dog immediately and can be repeated within 24hrs.
