  • Ooh, Black Sheep...almost a local beer for me (at least, local to where I was brought up. Not so much these days!). It's lovely too. They do another one with a funny name (Riggwelter?) that is also yummy, but quite strong I think...hic.

    Very annoying when that happens.
    Is it just me?
I've printed off a guide from Martin on stopping rises on your credit card APR yesterday...today I can't find it. GGGRRrrrrrrrrrr. Planned to write a letter to the Halifax tonight and it's going to have to wait.

I was thinking (I do occasionally!) these banks don't really think things through. Presumably when they encounter you on the phone and in the branch and try and sell you other products the inverse is true. Jacking up the APR on my card will surely affect how I feel about leaving my mortgage with them or adding house insurance, life insurance or other financial products to my financial relationship with them...or maybe they think my brain is as compartmentalised as tjey are.

  • If all else fails, if you don't need to carry on using the card, they have to let you reject the increase and give you reasonable time to pay it back at the existing rate. You can't carry on using the card, but it does mean that if you're just repaying a balance, you can continue to do so at your current apr. I don't think there's an actual definition of 'reasonable', but it would likely be considered unreasonable to expect you to pay it off more rapidly than you already were doing.

  • I love painting doors. It's a pity you're not closer, especially as you were so thoughtful, offering to come and help me when I was moving.

So it will be at least 6 weeks the agent reckons before anyone moves in...not quite as instant as I wanted. Don't think trip to Edinburgh is going to happen, unless there is a minor miracle. Fairly certain I wouldn't enjoy it if I was worrying about money for the duration...hey I've got at least two months to do that.

Guys came to do the gas servicing today and then carried the old crappy bench down from the garden to the front of the house. I have taken it and various pots to the tip.

Have managed to send a photo from the phone to gmail but now not able to pick it up at the library which is frustrating. I would like to get the fact I am letting my house out to a number of people working for large organisations in the North East but I can't.:mad::mad::mad::mad: Hope the agent gets this up fast. Think I will ask him for a one page ad that I can circulate.

Wow, life looks like it isn't going to get any less stressful any time soon. Time to get the PPI stuff moving and sell some items. Offered my motorbike jacket to a girl at sign language yesterday and then thought 'What the hell are you doing?' So have very apologetically retracted that and it will be going on Gumtree.

I think she is going to speak to me again, although not in class as we're not supposed to!:D I'll have to sign Sorry to her.

Right this isn't getting the garage cleared :T Am tired!

p.s. Have taken a reading from the electric meter which suggests my meter is running backwards - novel! Think this may need checking!

  • That's a nuisance about the delay in letting your property. Although you should mention the backward-running meter in the advert, as it is definitely a selling feature of the property! :)

If you need somewhere to stay in Edinburgh to cut costs, we have a spare room, and we're on a bus route into the city centre. Welcome any time. :)
