Seems to me to be an attack on M&S, a thoroughly unjustified one too. The OP doesn't come across too well here.

And the good news is that you're entitled to hold that opinion. Interesting that the OP doesn't seem to be allowed to hold theirs though. Ironic.

However, it's not reasonable to expect 2 bags for something like a couple of sandwiches.
It is reasonable to have two bags if those two people are taking one sandwich each and going their own separate ways after leaving the shop. They are essentially two different customers that happened to pay together.

To all of you who have taken their time to respond to my post. I want to apologise unreservedly for any upset I have caused and clearly I have. I am so sorry for being rude to a cashier. I am sorry for attacking a high street shop which didnt deserve it. I am sorry for being in the minority (bar one - and thank you for that). I am humbled to know that you the readership of this forum have taken it upon yourselves to call me worse than sh*t and how thick and cruel I have been (my words).

I am sorry also that I have troubled your days with trivia, and unreserved ire. I shall therefore continue my life (which is sad and basically some of you think I havent got one which I know nowis true) with a trusty carrier bag at all times. I shall never ever question anyone again - in a shop, on a forum or anywhere else. I shall take every bit of sh*t that life is offering and never ever stand up for myself. That is too damning. I shall of course continue to read all your posts with utter joy and not a peep shall pass my lips in judgement.

I would like you all to know that I am in awe of your sensible and quite correct assumptions of me and that I shall take all of your comments on board. Be they nasty, spiteful or just stupid - your comments are invaluable for me to continue my life in your shadows....

Lastly before I leave I would like to offer you all something that I can only do on a nameless and faceless forum - yes, a load of whatevs and then some...

    Apology accepted :D

No, stay a while, everybody's entitled to their opinion whether they agree or not.

Inbetween spitting your dummy and throwing your toys out of the pram, you neglected the most important piece of info. Where you'd like that 5p sending (no rude replies please, there's no room left up my a**e) :D

Ah, what the hell, make it 10p and then you're set for your next trip too.... ;):D

    Seriously though. 5p. :iloveyou:

So you had 1 free bag instead of 2? I thought that M&S had been charging for all bags for food purchases for years. (I'm in Wales though, and already my memory's a bit fuzzy of who charged what before the blanket 5p charge)

In England M&S do very small bags for free (evidently 1 per customer - I didn't know that), or proper carrier bags for 5p each. Been that way for a while now.

Who the f*ck needs a bag for a sandwich?

Who the f*ck apparently needs a bag for a sandwich enough to make themselves look like a cretin not only in public but also on the Internet, but not enough that they'd be willing to pay 5 pence for one?

I bought a lunch once in M&S - sandwich, crisps (or similar) may be a yoghurt or fruit.

Assistant rammed it in the free sandwich bag so hard, that the edge of the plastic sandwich casing cut through the bag rendering it useless.

When I gently pointed it out - and I promise, it was gentle - she told me company policy was to provide only one free sandwich bag and, pointing to the useless one, said "and that's the free one" :rotfl::rotfl:

I was so bemused - and to be honest, had no answer - that I meekly uttered "thank you" and scuttled out as if I'd just killed all the penguins and polar bears, as I'd clearly shown no concern for the environment :rotfl:
    Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac ;)

It would appear that I am that f*ck. Your courteous response to this leaves me shaking my head at the wonder of your communication skills. Not to mention your grasp of the English language...
