Marks and Spencers Epic Fail

Wheezy57.... Epic fail!!
M&s win!0 -
What 'attack' are you referring to?
Maybe where the OP said :
-Marks and Spencers Epic Fail
(when it wasn't)
-mean and pernicious.
(when it wasn't)
-profit is all encompassing to them.
(when it isn't)
Seems to me to be an attack on M&S, a thoroughly unjustified one too. The OP doesn't come across too well here.0 -
But at the same time the price of the 5p bag isn't exactly coming out of the cashiers wages is it??
I'm sick of these cashiers keeping hold of their bags like they are so precious. I do however dispose of my bags properly.0 -

Most, like me, dont like telling people they have to pay for something that has been so willingly given away. Most customers like the op think its a money grabbing exercise when 9/10 the retailor will make sure the money goes into recycling projects etc and also need to try and meet quotas on rubbish etc.
How i look at it, you want a bag, you ask. I (cashier) then says sure but the bags are 5p, to which you give me 5 p and i give you a bag.0 -
To all of you who have taken their time to respond to my post. I want to apologise unreservedly for any upset I have caused and clearly I have. I am so sorry for being rude to a cashier. I am sorry for attacking a high street shop which didnt deserve it. I am sorry for being in the minority (bar one - and thank you for that). I am humbled to know that you the readership of this forum have taken it upon yourselves to call me worse than sh*t and how thick and cruel I have been (my words).
I am sorry also that I have troubled your days with trivia, and unreserved ire. I shall therefore continue my life (which is sad and basically some of you think I havent got one which I know nowis true) with a trusty carrier bag at all times. I shall never ever question anyone again - in a shop, on a forum or anywhere else. I shall take every bit of sh*t that life is offering and never ever stand up for myself. That is too damning. I shall of course continue to read all your posts with utter joy and not a peep shall pass my lips in judgement.
I would like you all to know that I am in awe of your sensible and quite correct assumptions of me and that I shall take all of your comments on board. Be they nasty, spiteful or just stupid - your comments are invaluable for me to continue my life in your shadows....
Lastly before I leave I would like to offer you all something that I can only do on a nameless and faceless forum - yes, a load of whatevs and then some...0 -

It was about a 5p bag. I wish you had made the above vaguely clever to help your case but you failed in that.0 -
And I was just going to say as well.
No, wheezy, come and join us in ear with a cuppa.

but its just a 5p bag for crying out loud....
You need to realise you are getting het up over a really minor thing and that most of this came from the wrong use of 'epic fail'.
You need to know when to stop digging...Don't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0 -
The way I see this:
OP and his daughter constitute two people.
They both chose different items.
They were really two customers, but it went through as one transaction because he was paying for both, so the staff only allowed him one bag.
He could have given the money to his daughter and then had her pay separately. They would've got one bag each that way for the same money, except it would've taken more time (for both them and the staff). They were doing the staff a favour by paying together. Staff with half a brain would realise this; therefore I find the staff guilty of jobsworthiness, not to mention bad customer service.
It's not the money, it's the principle... for all those saying "it's only 5p", you are just thinking about the money. Where's your principles?0 -
I think supermarkets should provide bags free where reasonable. When you go to a supermarket and spend £50-£100 on their products it's basic customer service to provide something basic to assist you.
However, it's not reasonable to expect 2 bags for something like a couple of sandwiches.0
