I do though find your following comment a little heartless to say the least. These companies are using agressive, misleading sales techniques, using Sky as a way to gain trust and then rapidly instilling fear and worry to take their money.
My Mum is elderly and vulnerable but not stupid, she would normally never give her card details over the phone to someone who has cold-called her, and takes basic steps to protect herself. She is signed up for the TPS. She thought they were from Sky. the fact that she initially agreed is testament to them successfully misrepresenting themselves. Why else would other not-so-elderly and far more savvy people have fallen for this. This and the TAPA scam (for example) have proved that it's not enough to take basic steps, something needs to be done. A change in the law, prison for those found guilty, compensation for victims, the Authorities to take it seriously and do something.
we are not posting on Forums to moan, we want to do something positive to help and support other victims
I understand what everyone is saying but feel you do need to be careful when naming comapnies as there are alot of companies that have very similar names and are acting more than lawfully. Have you ever thought that sky would be earning money from these companies by selling customer information?? and those companies acting lawfully are providing a better ins product and cover than sky themselves half the time and threads like this could be very damaging to these companies that are like any other insurance company just trying to make a living. Caution should be used with any phone sales and if unsure should always decline, in any industry you will get people that are rude and harsh just going for the sale but dont tar all companies with that same brush.0 -

Sky do not sell this information to anyone. These companies are known by regulators and are very clever
- They obtain lists of details (from electoral registers, catalogue companies etc.) - they then send people to walk around streets noting addresses with sky dishes (some even count the feeds from the dish and talk about multi-room when they call you!).
- they use information such as the height of your dish, the age of the dish, what type of home you live in etc. to convince you
- They are very clever in the language they use, and even record the majority of calls - thus proving that they never call themselves Sky and proving that it isn't 'miss-selling' as such.
Companies that I have heard of include:
BlueSky
SkyCloud
Sk-eye (as in Sky)
SkyBoxes
Sky Receiving Services
Satellite receiving services
Satellite Box ProtectMy user name is SkyInsider... I worked for Sky quite some time ago, also worked for Virgin Media and a few other tech companies as a consultant. All views are my own0 -

Sky have successfully prosecuted several companies for allegedly calling themselves Sky when they are phoning and they are looking for details of other companies who are currently doing the same thing so all anyone needs to do is contact Sky with the details of these companies and they will use it to build a case against them.
Sky do offer an extended warranty but it is through D&G and is sold as a Sky Protect policy so they would never pass on a customer details to any competing company.0 -

NO WE DO NOT NEED TO BE MORE CAREFUL!!!!!
Have you even bothered to read the post!
You may well not want to upset some dodgy robbing filth, but that is one of the main strands to this site.
You are a scummy Toad!!!!!
If a sales company breaks the TPS guidelines then they are by definition acting unlawfully!
THEY ARE SCUM plain and simple!
THERE IS NO REASON FOR SALES TO CALL NUMBERS ON THE TPS UNREQUITED
The fact that this post has been brought from the dead is a good thing however as it may give others the will to fight these scum bags!
My plan would be to keep them on the phone for as long as possible, I managed to keep it up for 50 min! Then they hung up on me!:A:jLibertas Supra Omnia:j:A0 -
This forum seems to be going down a very strange route.......0

I really dislike random phoners!
They interrupt my happy day!
Though a few years ago when i was just a happy single guy some door to door sales came knocking!
He asked - Are your parents in?
No - I said
Off he went to annoy the neighbors.
It was funny when he came back ! lol:A:jLibertas Supra Omnia:j:A0 -
sounds like they are at it again, recieved a phone call from 01270861866 today asking if i still had sky and if the warrenty had expired, then got a sales pitch for about 5 mins i said i've never heard about you does sky know u exist? there was no answer but she said we are part of the phones for u brand, i then advised her that i will contact sky and will google the compony name she then terminated the phone call i'm not sure but surely if u have house contents insurance you are probably covered anyway !!!!!0

yep they are doing their sales pitch again this time using a different no 01270861866, i have asked sky and they say they are not part of the sky compony, and advised me to ignore them, when i said that i will google their compony to see who they are and what they are about she terminated the phone call at the end of the day they is just another company trying to get business from people whose warrenties have expired, i would say check with your house/contents insurance first to see if your sky is covered if not then they are a company available if you worry about damaging your sky box, remote, dish smartcard,0
