Disgusting really, wonder how they even got a hold of Skys database to do all this?! I'd call the police and they should be able to advise what you should do next. Terrible.

Edit: I'd also call Sky and ask why the hell these details are out there for these companies...

Sigh...they don't need Sky's database. There are over 10m active Sky subscribers in the UK, so random number dialling will find you plenty of them.
No different to the PC 'remote assistance' scammers, they similarly have no idea if the household has a PC or not.

That's so true Macman, then there's all the times we forget to tick/untick all of those little boxes at the bottom of everything and our data is on a merry-go-round, it's pretty relentless.

Hi Zipady_do, a group of us now have MPs, Consumer Direct, Action Fraud (therefore the National Fraud Squad) and Kent (for the heavy-handed chancer debt collectors), and Croydon (SatLite) Trading Standards involved. Whether much will come of all this we don't know but we're doing our best and we're not letting it go. The Who Calls Me website is up again if you wanted to see in detail what's happening - the number to input is 08442490999 and it's the 15-page thread (up to now).
• I hope I'm not breaking any forum rules here but a journalist from BBC Northwest Tonight has asked for anyone in the north west region, (Gtr Manchester, Lancashire, Cumbria, Merseyside etc), who has had dealings with SkyLite/SatLite/Sampora and Capital Credit Management to contact her.
The more that do the better.
Her email address is:

jayne.barrett@bbc.co.uk

Best of luck!
• I have just received an identical call and a very unprofessional sales agent who didn't appreciate me exercising my right to decline an offer of sale, and promptly hung up on me.......shocking behaviour - not impressed - these guys need looking at - I don't object to being contacted about stuff, so long as the "sellers" don't mind me saying no thank you..
Not doing Sky any favours or indeed other more professional sales organisations as it just results in a hardening attitude by the general population of potential customers :(

Considering they all charge far more than Sky charge for a one-off service call,it sounds like a rip off scam to me...If it quacks like a duck....
Sky DO provide their own protection plan thru Domestic & General....

No, Sky will never authorise the disclosure of your details to these companies, nor do we permit these companies to use Sky customers' information in any way.

Sky actively monitors companies selling repair plans for digital satellite equipment that it receives complaints about, including the source of the data used by those companies.

Sky service call charge of £65 Vs repair plan charge of £99 a year for a Sky HD box...I've had Sky for over 10 years & called them out once, that cost me £45 (as it was then)...If I had the repair plan I'd have wasted over £1000 on the slight off chance I might need it...

These companies selling Sky box warranties are either
1- An Out and out scam
2- Not a scam just bad service and a complete rip off.

There is absolutely NO point in getting Sky box insurance.

Agreed. About as useful and cost effective as 'water pipe insurance'-or indeed insurance against being hit by a meteorite...
