Oh and what questions were you asked by the breeder?
The 3 on our 'list' asked us where we live? have we had a puppy before? had a German Shep? Back garden? Work pattern? are we already reg with a vet (as we have a cat)? why do we want a dog (ie pet/showdog)?
They were very nice but emphasised that they only want pups going to good homes and ideally would like to keep in contact (even if just send a pic once a year) they also wanted to make sure the dog would be well socialised. I am also on a waiting list as they have a litter of pups atm but they all have homes to go to.
That to me, is a good breeder.0 -

I hope that you are booking her in for a Puppy health check at the Vets. I would do that straight away Monday morning. I hope to pray that your little dog is healthy and that you have been very lucky. By the way in my opinion only pups/kittens bought from registered breeders are pedigree. Just because your dog is a Westie does not make her a pedigree. Also I hope that she has had her Vaccinations yes? Wormed yes?
I do think though that if people want to buy puppies or kittens from back yard breeders then they only have themselves to blame if they lose that pup/kitten if they end up with life threatening i'llnesses.0 -

Well congratulations on getting a new family member kymrob. May you spend many happy years with your new puppy!0 -
Please do as Kimberley says and get your wee one checked out as soon as possible, get her insured as soon as you can as well.
I really hope that you have many happy vet free years with your girl and I'm keeping everything crossed that she didn't come from a puppy farm ''foster home''.0 -

Just an idea....
It may be better to get the insurance first and then take the pup to the vets, when the exclusion period (2 weeks with most insurances) kicks in.
Just in case....0 -

That's what I've always done, unfortunately it didn't pay of with Ellie as her spay scar opened up a wee bit on the inside. I was lucky though as my vet knew of many Tears and had done work for them before so they treated Ellie at cost but I'm sure that if anything like it happens again then the insurance company won't pay out.0
