    Thanks for the advice everyone!

Good tip on the car too...didn't think of that!

She's really been scratching this morning, grooming and licking loads and meowing lots too :( I hope the flea comb really helps her tonight!

Is it normal to scratch like she is 24 hours after flea treatment is given? Is it a case of it will get worse for her scratching wise before it gets better?

Sounds like she could either be allergic to flea bites or the flea spray. Defleaing only prevents new bites, histamine has already been produced in response to the old bites and this dissipates with time. There is also the scratch-itch cycle, where scratching triggers further itching. Nothing really you can do except wait and warn others not to get a kitten from/ go to the house of that dirty bint.

Awww ok, my poor girly has some more scratch time to come then :( hate seeing her like it!

I hope that I wasn't lied to regarding her being "treated" too! The vets wont touch her with treatment until 4 weeks time if they believe she has been treated already...but what if she hasn't been is there anyway of knowing?

Im so angry with her(the woman) for letting this happen to Splat and not looking after her properly... I feel for the others she has :(

I just wish there was something I could do to relieve the itching for her, hopefully the flea comb later will help somewhat ....

If Splat doesn't stop scratching there are a few possibilities
    1. the breeder didn't actually treat the kitten at all
    2. she didn't spray thoroughly according to the instructions
    3. the fleas are resistant.

If Splat continues to scratch IMO ask the vets if you can safely bathe her, if you are lucky she might enjoy swimming around your bath!! Irresponsible dirty bints are one reason why some of us are so militant about adopting from rescues or reputable breeders and believe backyard breeding should be stamped out.

Any idea on how long she may still scratch for if the treatment was applied and correctly?

Ive never heard of a cat/kitten who enjoys a bath lol but me and my fiance will give it a go if the vet advises we can do so, I dont want to stress her out anymore than she already is from the scratching!

Thanks again for the further advice, hints and tips! :)

Can anyone tell from the pictures the breed? For insurance purposes im confused, is she long or short haired? I know she's fairly fluffy at the moment but not sure if this is just a kitty layer (if that makes sense?) Is she classed as "Tortoiseshell & White?"

Well I've used the flea comb on her and removed lots of flea dirt! Didn't find a single flea tho! Before I did it she was playing happily and barely scratching not like this morning anyway! Since her comb over she's had a few scratches and grooming but I'm presuming this is because her fur was unsettled or because she has still some irritation but I will flea comb her again daily for a while I've used a home spray that my neighbour uses with her dog if and when he picks up the little blighters! She said it worked really well so for now will use that until I can get hold of indorex!

I hope this is a sign that the flea treatment is doing its job and she can settle in properly now

 Great news! AFAIK she is not a breed, would be described as a domestic short hair (= moggie!). My definition might be pretty rubbish but I class long hair as needing daily grooming to stop knotting, a short hair might be slick or fluffy but can groom themselves. If someone more knowledgeable says different please ignore me tho!

I've actually in the last hour been back in contact with a very old friend of mine who is a vet! I asked her what she thought and she said domestic short haired too so until someone tells me different that's what I will go with!

She is currently sound asleep on my lap bless her <3
