I'm so proud of splat! I had to go to into work yesterday so she was alone for a few hours and she had no accidents and was happy to see me when I arrived home! When I went to bed last night i did the same as the last night set up he hall and bathroom for her, have her good night cuddles and closed the bedroom door.....expecting we to meow as she did the night before....not a peep out of her ALL night! She didn't wake me up at 6am like the day before and I woke up at 7.30 opened the door, she was awake and drinking her water! She's been such a good girl so far love her to bits!!

Hope you get the flea problem sorted.

One of my cats (who still lives at parents') got 'caught' she was a house cat and stupidly we didn't think to get her neutered, she escaped one day and came back two weeks later with a fat tummy. Anyways long story short, she had kittens but we noticed fleas on them ! Presumably brought in by our dog cos mummy cat didn't go outside.

The vet told us not to use anything on them as they were only a few days old so we had to get a bowl of water, combs and manually remove the fleas. Mummy cat was the same. We got rid of them quite easily thankfully.

That was years ago though so don't know if there is product you can now use on newborns or whether there was at the time but our vet wasnt keen on it.

Thanks con, she's certainly not been scratching anywhere near as much and seems much more content so hopefully it was a case of the frontline vet spray taking effect, I've done the flat now too and will be keeping a close eye on her and checking with the flea comb regularly too to be sure, she didn't mind the comb yesterday so that's good!

She has been weighed today so we could get her registered for her health plan she weighs a tiny 0.73kg!! She is a healthy weight which is fantastic!!

lol...she hasn't been in the bedroom 'yet!' lol Im trying at the moment to keep her from the bedroom as its got potential dangers which are unavoidable :( The freezer and tumble dryer are in there, the window needs to be open to use the dryer, they both have a gap behind them and I dont want her to get stuck or anything similar so for her safety she isn't in there or the kitchen ...

If certain products are used on the queen that confers protection to her litter so there is no excuse with Splat. In your case might be that a flea came in when your queen came back with a fat belly, after all she'd clearly been in contact with an entire tom (not had all the vet care he should).

Doesn't solve all the issues you mention and there is a financial implication, but there are window guards specifically to keep cats safe when the windows are open. Will post links if you are interested.

I would be interested in these window guards you mention. We live in a house and Benji has full run of the house. We can leave the window in my daughter's bedroom open as this leads to the pitched roof of our extension. However, the remaining upstairs double glazed windows are only ever open the tiny amount they can be, whilst still locked. When it is warm (should summer ever arrive), it would be nice to be able to open more windows to circulate some air. Before we had double glazing, my husband had put up plastic trellis in front of the windows, but can't do this with the double glazing.
