No don't give in to her. If she learns she can wake you up and get attention you'll never break the habit.

It may sound harsh but she'll need to learn to be by herself. What I would do is put a soft toy in there for her which might be of some comfort as another 'kitten'.

She's got everything she needs and she can't stay up all night meowing (an adult cat might try!).

What you need to think with her is when she is an adult, do I want her to do this?

Yes/No If no, discourage the behaviour now by ignoring her :)

She's too small really to have left her mother. She has been with something 24/7 for her entire life, had access to food, fluid (ie, milk), comfort, warmth, reassurance, security. To expect her to cope being ignored for 7 hours without warning is too harsh, IMO.

Fleas or no fleas, I'd have her with me, OP. And mine rarely wake me at night even with the door wide open for them, as they find themselves places to sleep downstairs, sleep on the bottom of the bed, under the bed, on the windowsill on my head and pillow...

Happiness is a sleeping kitten. Enjoy it whilst you can.

One trick is to wrap a clock (the ticking sort) in a towel - it mimics mum's heartbeat and she can cuddle up.

Caz2003uk if there are fleas or flea eggs around they just as easily can hitch a ride on you as the kitten. I know because I found them in my bed after moving into an infested house - no pets then - and I found a solitary flea on my last indoor cat. I don't agree with the being tough thing, she is a baby in a strange place and babies of all species need comforting. I've had chatty cats but they haven't used that as a main attention tool - usually purring, headbutting, batting with paws, leaping on your head or bringing the toy to the human is highly effective. :rotfl:

After she stopped meowing initially I didn't hear another peep from her until 6 this morning! And she wasn't giving in then lol so the slave is up!! She used the litter tray 3 times in the night my good girl! She is now eating her breakfast!

I love how she investigates every toy in the video you posted 'that's mine, and that one, oh yes this one too...'

I've recently thought that when I do get round to having kids my living room will end up looking tidier with kids toys on the floor that all the scratching posts, chew toys, tiny mice and fuffy balls than are currently underfoot.

You can't buy Indorex from Pets at Home but I'm sure I bought some from amazon. Good luck with the flea comb.

ETA: remember when you finish treating your house to use the spray in any cars you own too. Otherwise you'll just bring them back in to the house from your car.

She looks like a cross between my cat and my mum's...or just a fluffy version of my mum's. She's gorgeous!!

    Thanks for the advice everyone!

Good tip on the car too...didn't think of that!

She's really been scratching this morning, grooming and licking loads and meowing lots too :( I hope the flea comb really helps her tonight!

Is it normal to scratch like she is 24 hours after flea treatment is given? Is it a case of it will get worse for her scratching wise before it gets better?
