But the cheap units come with the TL50 which is slower than the T2050.

Correct, but the T2050 is also rather more expensive....!

If you order with the 90 day warranty, are you sure it is covered for 1 year and is that C&R?
The 1501's warranty is UK only acc to Dell although can't see that on their website. The other laptops have intl warranties.

I did a forum search but no luck: is there a definitive guide to using Quidco on the forum and would someone be kind enough to post the link?
    many thanks

But neither the TL56 or T2050 Core 2 are part of the cheaper offers which have been mentioned here, so why the comparison ? They are BOTH more expensive !

The 90 day C&R is simply that, DELL will collect and return in the first 90 days, after that (ie, the remaining 9 months) you return it at your cost, although Dell will repair it FOC.

With Quidco, go to the QC site, log in, search for Dell, use the link to get there, and then enter the value code to find the system you want. Change the warranty, and click buy!

Anyone know how much it would cost to post/courier a broken laptop back to Dell...... just in case the worst happens and the laptop self destructs on day 91? Sod's law and all that.
  • Do the laptops overheat if you keep them on your knees for long periods?

My old one (not a Dell) ended up overheating after an hour or so no matter where you put it.

Any advice for the best way to keep it when your using it to prevent overheating?

    just use http://www.pharos-international.co.uk/

they use UPS, have used them for ages, you fill in the form online, the UPS driver comes to collect the parcel, sign for it and the parcel gets there next day.

awesome service, and cost you about £12 (depending on size of parcel and weight)

just needs to be on a flat service (i,e not on a bed mattress/duvet). You can buy them FAN trays that you can sit the laptop on and the fans run by usb power (ebay sell them)

bigup7 I use one of those trays that have beans underneath it that you would normally use to eat your tea of in from of the telly.

What do people think about the Dell "on-call" service ? It costs £78.99 do people think its worth getting for someone who always seems to be having problems with technolgy !
