How can you OH not like bacon
even vegetarians begin to wimper and start pawing the ground at the mearest smell of it:rotfl:
Bacon sarnies are to die for, although you probably will die early if you eat too many:eek:
Fry off until really crispy and add to hot pasta and a jar of Carbonara sauce.
Fry off and add to baked beans and serve with mashed potato and fried onion - a bit like Cowboy Supper
Take large field mushrooms and fill with stilton and wrap in the bacon.
Stretch, roll and fry and insert into a cooked head of cauliflower. Cover everything with cheese sauce, sprinkly more cheese on and grill until brown.
Chopped bacon, sliced onion, sliced celery baked beans and chopped tomatoes cooked in the SC make a fab casserole. Make a cobbler for the top and dawb on for the last hour and finally brown under the grill.

A packet of bacon goes a long way. I chop 3 or 4 slices into bits and fry and this week have added to:
A sauce mix over pasta (chopped bacon, onion, pepper, mushrooms and tinned tomatoes and then added italian herbs)
A cauliflower cheese: cooked the cauli, fried the mushrooms and bacon, made a cheese sauce. Put the cauli, mushrooms and bacon into a lasagne dish. Topped with the cheese sauce and sprinkled a mix of breadcrumbs and cheese. Into a hot oven for 15 to make the top crispy.
The last of the bacon went into a rissotto. Rissotto rice, sliced leeks, mushrooms, glass of HM wine and stock. Simmered together and the fried bacon added towards the end. A small amount of grated cheese and butter added at the very end (not very slimming this one but very tasty!)Enjoying an MSE OS life0 -
I just remembered, that smoked bacon is great in a beef casserole."On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of." My hero, Mr Steer.0

I make bacon rice normally. It is very easily adapted to your personal taste. I put in it onions, red/yellow/orange peppers depending on which ones I have. I usually have all 3 but I don't like green pepper so I never buy packs that contain them anymore (I used to and would throw the green pepper away).
I also put in courgettes if I have them in. Also spring onions if I have them in. Sometimes I put in red onions too. Sometimes I use passata, other times I use tomatoes or a tin of chopped tomatoes.
I use salt, pepper and a stock cube or some Marigold buillion.
Also I make bacon pasta which is basically the same as bacon rice except using pasta!
I also put some dried basil in but if you have fresh in you can use that instead.
If you cut the bacon up quite small then all the flavours go really well with the bacon so your DH might like it.
Apple_mint a bacon risotto sounds lovely. I've never put bacon into risotto, I always make it using sausages. Risotto is so yummy, just a bit of a faff to make and as someone who dislikes cooking at the best of times, I don't enjoy making risotto but I love eating it.
When I do make it I make about 5/6 portions and eat one then I plonk the rest in plastic containers so when I don't want to cook (all the time) then there is almost always a 'ready' meal in a plastic container for me to nuke in the microwave. Having it in a plastic container makes it a lot easier to take to work if desired.0 -
1 Onion
Bacon (approx 250g cut to 1 inch bits)
Garlic (Puree or fresh)
2 tins tomatoes...liquidized
1 tub (Tesco 44p) Soft cream cheese like philly.
Cereal bowl of frozen peas
Salt and pepper
250g to 500g of Penne pasta
Fry off the onion garlic and bacon bits until onion soft and bacon crispy. Add the tomatoes (pureed) and peas. Add Salt and Pepper. Leave to simmer.
Cook pasta...when this is cooked add the cream cheese to the tomato sauce and warm through until the CC has disappeared (no lumps)
Drain pasta and pour in sauce and mix well.
Yummy with crusty HM bread
To me the sauce tastes just the same as the Tomato & mascapone ones you buy in the jars. Not in debt at the moment, but been there in the past and realise I'm the kind of person who could easily fall back into it with the self destructing spending button so making sure I keep on top of being a good girl.
