Morning everyone
Lambanana and Smoky - Sending hugs. I understand re. work too, I feel the same and am already counting down the hours until home time today.
CCStar, Rage in Eden and anyone else who needs them - Sending hugs and good wishes.
A grim day of miserable grey skies today. Not a good start.
Went to dinner with my lovely friend last night to meet her new man and he was lovely, friendly and chatty but not full of himself, funny haha (not funny cuckoo), caring and open but still a manly man. Very good. I questioned him a bit. He was nearly out of the door when I asked him who his favourite Bond was and he NEARLY said Roger Moore :eek:But he redeemed himself and she's happy so that's fab.
In January I somehow managed to agree to go water skiing with my OH and some friends he goes with. I thought nice bargain weekend away as we are not having a holiday together (£100 for us 2 for 3 nights by a lake), I'll be okay with the whole water skiing thing. The trip is in May. I am now getting more and more concerned that I might plunge to my death behind a speeding boat  I have a slight fear of being in deep water. Well, I didn't think the fear was that bad but I now realise it's because I've been avoiding it for.. well... mostly ever. Is it okay to have some fears I wonder? Anyway, tonight we are going to see the friends that we are going with and the thought of even talking about that weekend makes me come out in a cold sweat. Oh gosh. I am not cut out to be an action girl. I want to stay in my kitchen, OSing and putting my baking into my wicker basket and vaccuming and listening to Radio 4.
I hope everyone has a good Thursday. Nearly the weekend x x x0 -
Morning all,
CCStar, hope the viewing goes well.
Snowy and Lambanana, I hope you both have a better day at work.
Catowen and Mrs Mix, I hope you both have a better nights sleep tonight.
Frugal fairy, good to see you back.
Pen Pen, thinking of you.
Rage, you must be so frustrated.....I hope you manage to find out what's happening and that FIL is on the mend soon.
I've done the school stuff, washed the dishes, put the washing machine and the breadmaker on and I'm just sitting here nursing a cup of coffee while I waken up properly. I really envy those of you who are bright eyed and bushy tailed in the morning! I suppose it would help if I went to bed at a decent time at night.
It's a lovely sunny morning here. There's nothing interesting happening today. I'll make a cottage pie or lasagne for tea tonight and if I can find the motivation I may have a go at decluttering the hall cupboard. Off to have a quick browse while I finish my coffee. Note to self: I must not spend all day on mse!
I hope you have a good day.

Morning :hello:
Lots of people sound like they need a ((((hug)))) this morning. If I name you all, I'm bound to miss somebody out and upset them, so here's a generic ((((hug)))) for everybody
That reminds me, I must phone my Dad, it's 2 years today since my Grannie died. I nearly forgot. I always think of her as having died in April cos that's when the funeral was...
I had a PM from Penny-Pincher!! and noticed that her post count says 4,000Congratulations on 4k posts you big gas-bag!
Tonight I am going to the Gilbert & George art exhibition at Tate Modern. It is a closed viewing (we are a corporate sponsor) and I have a free entry pass for two. TBH I could have really done with a night in (all you Flyladies would be horrified at the state of my flat after a week and a half of neglect from being out every evening!) but I knew that my ex was really really keen on seeing the G&G exhibition so had to offer him the freebieStill, the showing is scheduled to finish at 9pm so as long as I can be self controlled enough to go straight home (rather than to the pub with XBF!) I should have a couple of hours to myself! Need to write 3 opera reviews too, which will undoubtedly take precedence over housework...
Lunch: yellow pepper soup
Dinner: probably beans on toast
See you later

Well thought you might like a laugh. I have just had a look at the selection of flowers - realising the DH had not given me a price range I rang him up and asked - "about £15" he said. How I laughed - "DH" I said "they start at mid-£20". "Oh" he said - "we'll leave it then". See what I mean about clueless..... Full of the grand gesture but it's me who has to sort it out.But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green0

It was eventually decided in a pub, not sure whether that fits with your parenting style or not, but I found a lime and soda really helped me make up my mind :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
We're off to the pub later, for sureI have choir, and need to rehydrate afterwards. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it
DH is wanting to lead DD as to what to do. I'm more for her getting all the info, then making up her own mind. Our main problem is that DH and I are both trained as scientists, but DD is very arty - she definitely wants to do art, textiles, and history - no probs with that. But what advice can we give as to whether business studies, french, media, or drama will be the best choice for her

Not really in the same vein as the jokes above - but this made me smile. (dunno why the nuns have to be Scottish tho!?)
Two Scottish nuns had just arrived to the US by boat when one said to the other, "I heard that the occupants of this country actually eat dogs."
"Odd," her companion replied, "but if we shall live in America, we might as well do as the Americans do."
Nodding emphatically, the mother superior pointed to a hot dog vendor and they both walked towards it.
"Two dogs, please," said one.
The vendor was only too pleased to oblige and he wrapped both hot dogs in foil. Excited, the nuns hurried over to a bench and began to unwrap their 'dogs.'
The mother superior was first to open hers, then, stared at it for a moment, leaned over to the other nun and whispered cautiously, "What part did you get?"
