Hubby gets half of his mobile bill paid for by his boss, I've just said to him, 'you haven't had any cash given to you for months, pick it up on monday and I'll put it in the PMS jar'. He replied 'ummmm, errrrrrrrrr, I've spent it'
I've been saving for decking (to go over the patio which his mate put down and looks crap, he told us he knew what he was doing. At least the slabs were free)
£90 would have gone a long way
Troo is very mad.Bulletproof0 -

Awwwww, bless his cotton socks - he was clearly terrified of confessing!! Do a bit of "there, there, Dear, not to worry; I'll have my hand out waiting next month" Of course, those words do go a little bit further if you have Nora Batty tights on, a Hilda Ogden headscarf and .... Andy Capp's wife's rolling pin in your hand
Plan B: Serve him jacket spud and no butter every night for dinner for the equivalent time and when he queries it repeat back his words: "Ummm ... errrrrrr, I've spent all the housekeeping"~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Whoopie! First week over and I've saved £29.26!
And this is just with BOGOFS, coupons, reductions, negotiating a better deal on my mobile, buying 2nd hand (towels, trousers for work) and just thinking before spending (going for cheaper option).
I am now reading up about vinegar and bicarb of sodaI love this challenge!
Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.

Todays balance : £1.33p (plus £1.60 belonging to OH - found in his drawer when having a sort out - which he will probably want back when he realises its gone)
I'm not doing too well here. Now I can look at this in two ways:
1) I'm really rubbish at this PIN challenge and need to look over my budget more carefully to see where I can make cuts
2) I've already cut back as much as I can in our current circumstances and should therefore just accept I can only do so much
Then again I don't think I'll be asking the family what they want on the menu next time I plan my shopping trip. I'll just do a storecupboard menu instead. If they don't like it then they can go hungry!Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -
((hugs)) Nicki - think of it *this* way .... that's £1.33 (with a potential bonus of £1.60 if you're not caught out) that you wouldn't have had if you weren't part of the challenge and thinking about each penny! You deserve a pat on the back for *any* savings made through awareness! Well done.
As far as the family go, I think your idea is brilliant - do your menu plan based on your cupboard and your imagination (if I asked my family what they wanted I'd be up the creek without a paddle!)
I have asked them what foods they *really* enjoy and I do incorporate that into my menu plans occasionally. The truth is, I'm a tough old bird now (taken years of practise!) and it's a case of "like it or lump it" if their faces don't show heaps of approval at the sight of my offerings on the plate.
Mind you, I did have to go through a time of repeating: "A scabby dog is a banquet to a starving man!" a few times before they took the hint that if they didn't rave I might just serve them the aforementioned scabby dog!
Keep focused and don't put yourself down feeling that you're not achieving! You *are*!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
