I wonder if you lovely people could give me some advice please
I did Cambridge for a few months at the start of this year and lost 4 stone before I became disillusioned by it. I think that the problem was I had a few bad weeks due to hols/birthdays and found it difficult to get back to the diet afterwards. I think I had missed going out so much while on Cambridge (I always found it easier to stay in rather than avoid food and drinks) and suddenly discovering it again it was to hard to then say no to, especially during the lovely summer months.
Soon after I joined Weight Watchers for the umpeenth time and have been going there for 8 weeks now. So far at Weight Watchers I have GAINED a total of half a pound through losing and then gaining and then losing again.
I feel totallly fed up, I'm absolutely sick of dieting and having to watch every single last calorie that passes through my lips and feel guilty every time I eat something a bit "naughty". I'd say I definitely have a love/hate relationship with food but thats (kind of) another story.
What I wanted to know was has anyone been through this and what did they do to overcome it? I need to lose around another 4-4.5 stones and deep down I know that Cambridge is the best way for me to do this (it's the only diet where I have lost a significant amount of weight in the past few years). The problem is I'm not sure I feel motivated enough at the moment to get through that first horrible week and I don't want to start it again only to fall at the first hurdle.
Has anybody, please, got any advice??Sometimes you have to go throughthe rain to get to therainbow0 -
Morning Claire!
What about doing Cambridge but on 790?
You would have three shakes plus 1/2 pint of skimmed milk or fat-free yoghurt plus a high-protein meal with some vegetables.
This might help you get back onto the straight and narrow.
I did SSing for 8 weeks straight and due to social events went onto 790 and have lost 14lbs in the last 4 weeks on that 790 Plan.
You could then still socialise, within reason, with no problem.

For those on 790 -
I had 100g of fat-free plain yoghurt today (I don't use my skimmed milk allowance, I use the yoghurt to cook with, etc)
I added a tiny amount of the Summer Berry Water Flavouring and it was yummy - a fruity yoghurt!!
Definitely worth a try!

This is Day 3 for me. I have done everything necessary except drink gallons of water but I am obviously drinking enough because I am in and out of the toilet every couple of hours and up three or four times in the night!
OH is sitting eating his dinner now hence me being on here but the smell is wafting........................I think I had better take the dog for a walk.
I am out all day Friday and 10am to 5pm on Saturday and out to lunch with school friends on Tuesday. As we only meet once a year I can't cancel on Tuesday. I'm trying to think of ways I can get round these day's. CC told me at the weekend that I could eat some lettuce and chicken or fish on Saturday and for lunch on Tuesday. Anything green he said but a definite no no to tomatoes if I have salad. I had forgotten about Friday but i am hoping I can take a soup with me and have that at lunchtime but I know from 8am to 6pm that isn't enough. I mix my packets with crushed ice and 700mls of water in a smoothie maker. Otherwise I couldn't stomach them - just hate those lumps! Hence I can't take them with me.
If anyone has an ideas I would be grateful. Once I have been on it a couple of weeks I can have the ready mixed shakes. Mmm need to think more about this one....................
Otherwise all okay.

Well done for getting to Day 3! Day 4 can be a nightmare, so be warned!
Tuna or chicken salad would be a good choice. I had a chicken & bacon salad once when I was out and it didn't send me out of ketosis.
In the past I have had a prawn cocktail without the sauce, no tomatoes or bread of course!
There is no reason why you can't have the tetras now. You just need to drink more water with them, since they are concentrated.
What about taking a soup out with you? A flask of hot water if necessary and mix it there, or ask for some hot water in a cafe? Or a hot chocolate or cappuccino shake perhaps?
There are ways round this, you just have to be careful what you eat, that's all.
Have fun!

Day 4 a nightmare! Oh great thanks!
I'm working from 12 noon till 5pm. I just fill in for someone when she wants to go out so it's not a regular occurrance. Shall take a soup with me but it takes 45 mins to get home so I'll be starving on just that I'm sure.
I can do the salad on Tuesday - OH went down and looked at menu for me! lol So that's sorted.
I make my soup into cup o soup and use one of those small whizzing whisks so the lunchtime on Friday is okay. I don't think I'd want two during the day though. I have to leave so early I suppose I shall have to make myself have a shake before I leave. CC isn't local so can't get a tetra bar and he said not for two weeks anyway. Okay, right as you say there are ways round this! I'll take my smoothie maker with me on Friday, put a bottle of water in the freezer part of the fridge and see how I get on. If all else fails I'll have to eat a lettuce leaf from the shop across the way! Then I can come home and drink two shakes straight off! lol Phew I feel tired just thinking about it.
Saturday - yup hadn't thought of a flask. Shall open packet and put into a small container to take with (secret diet an all that) and just say to everyone it's cup o soup
. Mind you the salads and food that will be there are always so lovely
- if I get stuck another salad but hopefully I won't!
Thanks CnQ!
PS How do you know if you are in ketosis??0 -
Thanks for the reply CnQ
I tried the 790 cals plan why I was trying to get back on the diet before and I couldn't do it. I think the problem with me is that once I start eating I don't quite know when to stop. That I think is the reason that Cambridge SS worked so well for me and also the reason that WW doesn't.
I need to have a long think this weekend methinks. I have so far maintained what I lost doing Cambridge but I can feel myself slipping and if I don't do something soon I can see I'm going to be on a downward spiral back to where I started. Not somewhere I want to be.
Thanks for the advice. XSometimes you have to go throughthe rain to get to therainbow0 -
Have you thought about having some counselling?
It might help.
Or try Paul McKenna's CD 'I Can Make you Thin' and listen to it every day if you can, it will really help you out.
