Hi all. I did the Cambridge plan around 2 years ago and lost 4 stone. I've put half of that back on so have called today to start sole source again. This thread appears a great support.
I never liked any of the CD products other than the chocolate tetra's. Just as well I dont mind selection lol.
CD have added some more flavours, even in this current year, perhaps you could give those a try?
It would get very boring just having one type all the time!
I do know of folks who had nothing but Chocolate shakes morning, noon and night and lost a considerable amount of weight. That's what you call determination.
I am on Day 90 today and love the variety of all the different soups/shakes/bars. Not keen on the Toffee & Walnut but most folks love it!
Good luck on your new start.
Come back and tell us how you are getting on, won't you!

Didn't have a good day yesterday
. Had one packet, one soup and a thin slice of sultana cake
as was out all day & not home till later in the evening. I only had 1 litre of water aswell. It's going to be a hectic couple of weeks but the worst is over I hope so today I just have to carry on as I was last week alhough today is the day I have a lunch appointment  that I can't cancel but at least I know I can just have a chicken salad - thankfully.
Suppose these unexpected things happen but we work round them with as few hiccups as possible.
Well Done CnQ. Day 91 today - phew! :T0 -

Lyn have you disappeared off into the wide blue yonder?
How are the newbies doing???
Im not sure Im going to restrart it just now actually.
I'm really happy with my figure at the moment, and am veering towards a high protein, low fat low carb diet and v small portions. I didnt have dinner last night for example as I went to harvester for lunch ( top tip) where you can have chicken and unlimited salad bar for 4. odd.
I think I might leave the CD for a while - Im not sure I have too much weight to lose, its just a question of not putting it back on adn staying relitavely active.
the ethical dilemma I had on coming back from one of the worlds poorest countries remains - how can I justify spending 70usd a WEEK on buying what is effectively "not -food" when many of the people we met struggled to feed themselves and thier nippers on a dollar a day.... Im thinking of saving the money i would have spent on CD over a few weeks and using this money to sponsor a child for a year instead
IM happy where I am just now, however, Im certain in time I'll come back to CD. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

Thanks for your post and advice. I may give the new ones a try at least. My main problem was the texture. They always felt a little 'bitty' and I'm so fussy lol. I did it with the choc tetra's for 4 weeks and it was as good as it could be. I even tried the mouse stuff you could add to the shakes and that was terrible too.
I have my appointment next tuesday. Will now try to prepare for SC...
Lynzpower, I agree with the moral part. I struggled spending so much per week thinking this could easily feed a family in this country let alone anywhere else.0 -

We still have to eat - the UK costs money to eat, so I don't see the issue with Third World countries. I still contribute to various charities every year as well.
Phil, do invest in a good blender, even a hand-held electric stick-type blender - around £4 in Tesco - so that your shakes are smoother.
The best tip I could give you is what Cambridge recommend, which I did but most folks miss out - cut the carbs for a good five days prior to starting SS!! It really does work. I had next-to-know problems with withdrawal and sailed through my first couple of weeks.

Phil3822 - the only way I can drink the shakes is by doing the following - it may help you.
Put crushed ice in a smoothie maker or blender
Pour in 700ml of cold water
Add packet
Whizz for 30 secs or more
Pour into glass.
This makes a lovely long drink and if you have problems drinking water, like I do, then this gives you extra and you don't realise it.
For soups I add at least 500ml of water and drink it like "cup o soup". Usually makes 1.5 mugs. I whizz it round with an aerolatte thingy I got from Ideal Home a couple of years ago.
I can't stand lumps and this works well.
Last week I mixed up my shake, poured into a flask and that did me three hours later. CC told me to do it and said it doesn't matter now and again to not make up and drink within 15 mins. Problem is I forgot all about this tip yesterday - would have been great! It did leave a ring round my flask and took a while to clean it but it certainly did the trick and also keep cold!0 -
How to Lie to the Bathroom Scales -
1. Weigh yourself with clothes on, after dinner... as well as in the morning, without clothes, before breakfast, because it's nice to
see how much weight you've lost overnight.
2. Never weigh yourself with wet hair.
3. When weighing, remove everything, including glasses. In this case, blurred vision is an asset. Don't forget the earrings, these things can weigh at least a pound.
4. Use cheap scales only, never the medical kind, because they are always five pounds off...to your advantage.
5. Always go to the bathroom first.
6. Stand with arms raised, making pressure on the scale lighter.
7. Don't eat or drink in the morning until AFTER you've weighed in, completely naked, of course.
8. Weigh yourself after a haircut, this is good for at least half a pound of hair (hopefully).
9. Exhale with all your might BEFORE stepping onto the scale (air has to weigh something, right?).
10. Start out with just one foot on the scale, then holding onto the towel rack in front of you, slowly edge your other foot on and
slowly let off of the rack. Admittedly, this takes time, but it's worth it. You will weigh at least two pounds less than if you'd
stepped on normally.

Has anyone had any success doing the cambridge diet - I know all the negative crash dieting stuff but sometimes desperate measures call for desperate times.
Two things to remember:- If you cut down too fast on calorie intake your body goes into 'starvation' mode. Your body starts to burn less energy than it normally would, because it thinks that food around it is scarce. So when you start to increase your calories again your body will try to store as much as it can, until it gets back to normal. That's why people put weight on again immediately after dieting.
- If you're obese and you lose a lot of weight, your body becomes very efficient at using the food you eat. The good point is that your body is more efficient at using food than it used to be, yay! :j The downside is that if you go back to eating a 'normal' amount you're going to put the weight back on faster, because your body is more efficient. So you'll actually have to alter your lifestyle to keep the weight off (such as eating more veg in your meals). Don't ask me why your body changes like this, because they don't know at the moment.
- If you find that alcohol is pushing up your calories and/or weight, send it to me.
