  • The Cambridge Diet does not send your body into starvation mode as such, therefore your body does not alter its metabolism.

Any diet where you lose weight and return to your old bad eating habits will see the weight pile back on. The key to the success of any diet is to discover healthy fruit and vegetables, along with fresh, nutritious low GI foods. Not the prepackaged, heaving with carbs junk that so many people live on.

Cambridge was researched and trialled for a full 14 years before going onto the open market in 1984. It has stayed around as a Company in 40 countries because is safe, successful, easy to use and palatable and creates the conditions in which our bodies thrive and lose weight without any loss to muscle or bone tissue.

Have a read of the two books Dr. Alan Howard has written - the first published in 1984, the second published in 2004 for the 20th Anniversary.

I am now in my 8th week of SS, and I have found that eating some real food actually HELPS to lose weight.

In the AAAW, I lost more than the week before. Last week, I went to a Turkish restaurant and had a grilled chicken skewer and green salad, and lost 2 pounds more than the week before.

I think people need to be careful in thinking that you won't go into starvation mode on Cambridge. Although you may be following sole source to the T, if you're exercising like I am, it's important to increase your calorie intake.

C+Q: sometimes you sound like you've been totally brainwashed by CC. It's like how some people were when Atkins was in fashion. It's great that you're doing really well, but sometimes SS is painful, and is definatly not easy. I often feel hungry, and have days where I feel bad. But i'm doing this for the long term, and am committed to not put the weight back on afterwards. Otherwise, this would have been a waste of time.

I am a medical professional, so no I have not been brain-washed! I have simply read all the research that is available, research done since 1967 to present time. I don't need brain-washing or convincing. Cambridge works. The results tell me all I need to know. Cambridge is safe, it works and it ensures that you stay healthy along the way. Cambridge also has the Steps to ensure that weight loss doesn't occur as you increase the calories and carbs.

I too did Atkins, very successfully. I maintained for four years with no problem. Then became ill and registered disabled and gained weight in the year that I was awaiting them to start treatment.

Hand on heart I have never been hungry on Cambridge, nor have I cheated.

I did 8 weeks of Sole Source followed by 5 weeks of 790.

I have found it to be incredibly easy, as do a lot of people!!!

I'm doing okay - my weight loss has slowed to only about 2 pounds per week for the last three so I am going to start doing some brisk walks and cut out bars to see if I can get it moving a bit faster.

Have plenty of clothes that fit me again though now so that's a good thing.

I don't need tro ask how you are doing - I keep an eye on how you are doing on the other two sites - and you're doing brilliantly!

    Thanks!

Weight loss does tend to slow down the closer you get to BMI of 25.

Adding a little exercise might help things along.

    Hope all goes well x

    Ok OK

I might have changed my mind again.

I felt myself feeling decidedly sleepy in the van this afternoon, and Im certain that this is the carb effect. Im still not eating bread or potatoes really, but I did have cereal this morning. Certainly, I was starving again my 10 and grazing all day. Im knackered now.

I think CD is calling me back..... I just want to feel as fab as I did before, but qwitohut CD. Dont know if thats possible, maybe Ill start on 790 then work up fairly quickly as I I only want to lose max 3-5lbs TOPS

Anyone have any thoughts on this??
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast
  • Would be a good idea Lyn!

CD say to do each step for a minimum of two weeks, adding the allowed vegetables on each step gradually, to ease your body back into food.

Maybe you would get away with one week of 790, then do two weeks of 1000, two weeks of 1200, etc?

CD use low GI vegetables all the way, which will help you along.

    Hope all goes well.
  • Just thought I would say that I had my first meeting with my CDC today, she is really lovely.

I am going to a wedding on Saturday so I will be starting CD on Monday...looking forward to it.

    Hope you are all well.

I've got a stinking cold and the past couple of days have not been good ones for me I'm embarrassed to say. Too much going on for me to concentrate on making sure I have the packets with me.

CC sent me pkts because couldn't get to see me and put in all soups except for 6 shakes!! How stupid is that  !

Off to have first shake of day now>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
