I tried the CD a few months ago but was told by my CDC not to do the sole source because no one can stick to it. I was told to do two packets a day and one meal. Well after a month I had lost 10lbs so was not particularly happy and I also found that I would cheat because I was told not to do sole source. I have to say my CDC isn't that good - it's just money for her. I've been weighed and measured twice including first session.

I have three stone to lose, have got on scales which register fat % and it says 43.8%  . BMI = 32.

So would you suggest I try sole source and possibly change my CDC?:o Three stone in two months   - that would make me blissfully happy! Well Done Cute n Quirky.

    Thank you!

I did Sole Source for 7 weeks straight and never cheated once!

Yes the first couple of days can be a trial - it rather depends on how much carb you have in your diet before you start. I did lowcarb for a full four days prior to starting CD and I didn't have a whole lot of trouble. I think mine was day 4 I was headachey and cold where most folks it is day 3.

I went onto 790 because of having a weekend away where I needed to be able to eat. I have a birthday party on 6th October and a Wedding on 3rd November. I am happy on 790 right now so will stay there until after the wedding and go back onto SS on 5th November until Christmas, I think.

I'm surprised at TOTM cravings with the diet being so low in carbs as I always thought that it is normally carbs that make you crave. Last month I retained fluid on my TOTM but didn't actually become desperate for any 'bad food' (thank goodness).

Try going to bed early - you can't eat if you're sleeping :rotfl:

TOTM cravings are caused by hormones!!

Well, mine are! I haven't been too bad since being on CD.

When I have a chocolate craving I have a chocolate shake for breakfast, a chocolate mint for lunch, a meal at teatime and a choccie bar as the last CD!! That knocks choccie cravings on the head!!

I haven't had one piece of 'normal' chocolate pass my lips for 67 days now and I have been okay without it!

Goodness Lara. Where did you find that CDC:eek: Lots of people stick to SS. It makes me seeth when I hear about daft CDCs who don't know what they are talking about. It gives the diet a bad name.

Could not agree more!! I found SS a hell of a lot easier to stick to than eating i have to be honest.

  • There is no argument with Sole Source!

It leaves no room for manoeuvre at all, no room to make mistakes with weights or measures. You have the 3 or 4 shakes and that's it!

That is why I loved it from the beginning - I didn't have to think about food - buying it, cooking it, eating it!!

For me and a lot of other people it works.

I wonder if that CDC had problems sticking to SS CD herself. perhaps?

Then you get the opposite - those CDC's who skipped AAMW themselves so tell their clients to do the same!

At the end of the day they are not Doctors, nurses or medical professionals, they are there to advise and to follow the Cambridge Counsellor's Code of Conduct - some of them need to re-read it!

Mmmmm so I need to get myself a new Councellor from the sound of it then? Do the CC get together and discuss their "patients"? I would feel really embarrassed if that happened :o  .

Oh well shall have a look at the website and see who else is around................!

Thanks for your helpful comments. :)

    PS What's AAMW?

Not as far as I know! They vow confidentiality, what you discuss is between yourself and your CDC.

In any event your original CDC was not giving you correct advice, in fact it wa contrary to CD advice anyway.

You need to be able to get on with your CDC and for you to be able to trust them with their advice and knowledge. Unfortunately some of them are sadly lacking in both departments.

Unless there is a medical problem which would prevent Sole Source, everyone starts on Sole Source.

The first couple of days can be a trial but it gives the kickstart that most folks need - removing food from the equation altogether so you don't have to think about buying/cooking/eating. Most folks then don't want to do AAMW in case it makes them want to eat and not stop! That doesn't happen by the way, since you will still be in ketosis and won't be hungry. I am on 790 and have a large meal plus the three shakes and I am never hungry as I am still in ketosis and still losing weight nicely.

You are supposed to have three shakes per day - for everyone.

If you are 5'8 or over you have FOUR shakes per day.

    That is for Sole Source.

For 790 you have your three shakes PLUS a meal - for everyone.

What planet is your CDC on????

Go to www.cambridgedieters.com if you want to check the info. Also, you should have been given the Cambridge booklets by your CDC but I guess she didn't do that either! Sheesh!

Incidentally some CDCs charge for the booklets, I was charged 2 quid for mine, which is Ok really, Im glad I have it but would have preferred it if it was free LOL!
