well done on the 4 lb loss c n q, your doing so well on c.d! I got weighed last night and have lost 9 lbs which I'm so happy about as I thought coming on my period would have made me weigh more! I totally agree about this b.m.i nonsense, I think that as long as your happy at your weight and you maintain a healthy lifestyle and aren't putting your body into any health risks then it doesn't matter about the b.m.i calculations.0

Interesting Stuff!
According to the Basal Metabolic Rate calculator, for my height/age/current weight my BMR is 1992 cals per day - so that is what is required by my body just to keep it ticking over! Interesiting!
The site is here -
http://www.foreverclean9.com/calculators.html
It also works out the calories expended on various activities/exercise for your age/weight/height which I found very very interesting!
The problem with the BMI is that if you are above a BMI of 25 we are classed as being 'overweight' by the medical profession and the insurance companies. So you cannot win!
I have sorted out my clothes and have packed. Was checking on my emails then I need to have a shower and get dressed and go down the road to Harrogate! And no trips to Betty's for tea and scones either!
Will be back Sunday
Have fun!0 -
Mine is 1486 - which I know isn't correct as I put on weight if I eat over 1000 calories per day.
Maybe getting down to my target weight will somehow affect my metabolism and mean that I can consume more calories ultimately? - I'd certainly like to be able to eat more whilst maintaining my weight. I don't think there is any way I am going to eat 149 grammes of carbs per day at any time in the future though as this calculator shows.
If a lot of successful diets are shown to be low carb why do they insist that we should get 40% of our calories/grams from them? No wonder there is such a lot of obesity in the UK - maybe the healthcare profession need to have a radical re-think of the advice they give out.
Have a good weekend away C'n'Q - shame about the scones!
A great deal of this nutritional advice is donkeys years old, much of it sorted out in the 60s IIRC ( i learned about this in nuitritional science)
In those days of course, we were just more physical. My nana would cook porridge for breakfast, bread and cheese type lunch and for tea a meat & potato pie with mash and bread & marg. CARB FEST! She was slim tho, and thats becasue she was involved in such physical work, she raised 6 kids ( and thier grandkids after school etc) worked in a factory, carried all the shopping from the shops herself ( no home deliverys or cars) hand washed with a mangle etc. She was like a rake! Grandad worked in a factory too, walked to work etc.
She would be staggered how little movement some of us do. I compare to my mum who gets up, drives to work, drives from work to supermarket, drives home, eats carbs- promptly falls asleep on sofa!
I understood that 2000 was just what the body needed tho to function ( organs, being able to blink, that sort of thing)
I think different bodies process energy differently , they must do. I did atkins for a bit and started with the high fat aspect - and I did lose even though I was patently having LOADS of calories per day with not a particularly active lifestyle.
Im interested in the waist to hip ratio, my waist is 27 ( I remember being 24 long ago!) whereas my hips are 32 - although they were 37 pre CD. I think now I could only really lose a MAX of 2 inches off my hips, wheras I reckon I could get my waist back to 24 again. Wouldnt want to tho, as its a nightmare to buy trousers, so Id like to lose the hips fat but stay where I am waist wise- does that make sense? Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
I'm single again, still fat, and CD worked for me before... and will again if I have the willpower!
Think I will join you from Monday... still have enough in date shakes in the cupboard to kick me off for a week until I can see CDC at the weekend... but am unwilling to forego 'they're all @@@@s' choccies and wine event tomorrow, hence not starting today...Debt free 4th April 2007.
New house. Bigger mortgage. MFWB after I have my buffer cash in place.0 -

All good in my world - no cheating yesterday, and today Im back with it on a vengeance.
Tomorrow we are going to the Thames festival, I hope theres a chicken stall there and I could have a BBQ chicken salad for tea so I dont have to use one of my tetras for that.
Its becoming a planning nightmare the cd at the mo, cant work out where im meant to be and what shakes I need:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

yeah lynn don't give up whatever you do! its difficult when you can't get the fluid you need but just start again tomorrow and stick with it, you've done so well already!
I have a big party this friday and I'm really nervous about my first encounter with drunk people when I can't drink and then I'm back off to uni this weekend so will be around it all the time-its going to take willpower made of steel not to drink
amanda-I was half a stone heavier on my c.d counsellors scales than I was on my home ones which really gutted me but the sooner you start the sooner you get rid of the weight so good luck with it tomorrow, just remember to drink lots of water and then some!
