  • Hi everyone, just found this site and thread and thought i'd ask a few questions. I have 4 stone to lose (have already lost 1 stone with ww but have sts for several months now.) Im emigrating to Oz in Aug 2009 and really want to lose as much as possible before then. ww simply isn't working for me at the moment so im considering the cd. I've started reading all previous posts (its taking me a while!!!.) Can you excersise whilst on the cd? And does the cd really work. Also will i keep the weight off? Thanx in advance for any help.

hi Mrs T, i have been on CD for 5 weeks and have lost 20.5lbs... so it is certainly working for me, albeit at a slower rate than some people... but certainly is working. I am exercising, i run 2-3 times a week and swim/gym too (so heaven knows how i was so fat in the first place!) and i can honestly say it hasn't affected my ability to exercise at all, in fact due to stone and half lost, my running has improved a lot already.... as long as you are already active you can continue at the same rate.. they don't recommend starting a heavy programme at the same time as CD, but to introduce it more gradually when you are established...

There is loads of advice on here, some of it is very subjective and from personal experience, but if you go to www.minimins.com there is loads of official CD advice and loads of great success stories, as well as lots of personal experiences/opinions too....

The expense of CD kinda worried me but i can honestly say i am spending less money, as let's be honest, eating healthily is an expensive passtime!! almost as expensive as eating unhealthily! Whereas CDC you spend you £40 or whatever and that is quite literally it...! no lunch monies, no cans of pop, therefore no chocolate bars, no magazines etc etc... you just avoid the shops!

And it's a good way to use up your store cupboard to feed family... i've honestly saved a fortune! mental eh?!

Let us know what you decide to do, and how you get on with it....!

    Good luck!

    Hi all,

Caroline, I know exactly how you feel! My social life is suffering because of CD but I've decided not to let alcohol ruin my target! So i still go out with my mates as often as before and though its not as much fun as with alcohol there are still few things which i find good. My skin has definitely improved and to watch all my mates getting slowly drunk is quite funny!:rotfl:
Im on my day 12 today and so far lost about 8 lbs. I want to do 4 weeks and then i will see if I want to continue on SS+ or i might just start maintanance program step by step....

And to (Land of) Maz: i do envy you as i go to the gym 3 times a week as well (yeah, i understand your saying about being fat at the first place) but since i started CD i had to slow down a lot as I am missing the strength!

    Anyway, we will see!!

    Good luck to everyone

I started CD today. So one porridge, one soup and one shake later and im pleasantly suprised. No hunger pangs yet and havent managed quite a bit of water. I hope the next few days go so easily and I get into the swing of things properly.

  • OK so I have nearly got through my 1st day but I would appreciate some advice.....I've had my 3 meals today, but I am 5ft 9" and could have a 4th meal should I just go to bed as I don't feel too hungry (even though I know I will be up at least 6 times to go to the loo) or should I have my 4th meal??
  • You have to have your meal. Your body could go into starvation mode.

My CDC gave me some ketostix but I've forgotten the colour code. Does anyone know if there's on online?

if it stays the same, i.e.flesh colour then that's no ketosis so bad news.... anything else from pink to purple indicates ketosis so that's good... although dark purple can indicate dehydrated...(but that's normal first thing in the morning as pee is always stronger)

i appreciate it's too late now but i aggree with mercury, if you really can't stomach another shake, make it into a hot chocolate to have before bed....

at 5'9" you need to take the 4 meals really....
