I've asked my CDC about this and she's adamant that spirits such as vodka are fine, as long as you're having them with things like soda water or diet coke. I'm going purely by her recommendation there.

I have just been to meet my CDC for ths first time, she's lovely, went through everything, and have all my packs now. I start on Monday, she recommended waiting until the weekend is over as I have two heavy shifts at work today and tomorrow, whereas I have a week off next week.
Excited now.Fantastic Expectations Amazing Revelations0 -
Have to agree with smidgey. My CDC has said its quite dangerous to drink as your body has no energy to burn. It's using ketones while we are in ketosis. When you consume alcohol it has nothing so you can faint.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Just to clarify as a CDC,
The advice you have been given, Gilzor, is incorrect.
Alcohol is strictly forbidden on the Sole Source Programme.
The link Smidgey gave is from Minimins and written by a CDC with many years of experience who also sits on the Co ordinating comittee for Cambridge Counsellors.
If in doubt, telephone Cambridge Head Office for advice.
Please do not have alcohol on the Sole Source Programme.0 -
Hi everyone, it's good to read how people are getting on. I've had 6 weeks off cambridge as I've found it really hard to get back on it after christmas. I have only put 3 lbs on though which is good. Thought by signing up here again, I would be making a contract with myself and you guys to be strict and sole source for 4 weeks from tomorrow. Keep up the good work everyone.0

Hi Guys
Well I am reading all your posts tonight and I am trying to get myself motivated as I am starting the diet tomorrow! I have had a great weekend away, and am now ready to start first thing tomorrow (porridge here I come). I am more concerned about my lack of alcohol rather than food and know I am going to find particularly the 1st few days particularly hard as I do enjoy a drink every day! Hopefully my hubby will be working away all week which should be good as firstly I wont have to cook for him and secondly I wont be using him as a punch bag when I am feeling this really tough.
I have approx 5 stone to lose and would appreciate any support you guys can give me. I did Lighter Life a few years ago so I know what to expect but I have stupidly told several of my mates of my intent to put my life on hold for at least 10 weeks and they're not that encouraging.
Wish me luck

Good luck Caroline. Can i ask how did you get on with lighterlife?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

I did ok with Lighter Life but found it very expensive and I didn't really want the counselling (the soups and shakes tasted exactly the same as CD!) as I actually know the reason why I'm overweight- basically I eat and drink too much.
The next few weeks will be interesting as I know some people would maybe classs me as an alcoholic!!! I hope I'm not - yes I can drink most people under the table, and my husband and I do have a drink or 2 every day and don't really suffer with being drunk or with hangovers(plus the fact alcohol is empty calories), but I have worried recently about my health especially my liver (my Dad died of liver cancer!!) I am lucky as I am tall and am told that I carry my weight well and apparantly always look good, however I have been invited to 2 events in the last 3 weeks that I have turned down because I am ashamed at the way I look, this is not good and so it is time to change. Anyone out there who is also desperate to lose weight please get in touch and hopefully we can support each other, alternatively if you are doing well with the CD and think you can offer me any support then get in touch because I really would appreciate your help
Many Thanks

Well, this past week wasn't a complete loss -- despite my feelings. Ended up losing 5 pounds, making that a grand total of 32 pounds in six weeks.
However, completely forgot to raise the subject of alcohol with her, which I'll do next week. Thanks for informing me on that one, everyone.0 -
All was not lost then Gilzor, and well done on still losing :T . And hello caroline4013, i started the CD on friday, and so far so good, no side effects nothing at all, and feeling quite good actually, been working nights since friday too, and usually take a couple of pro plus through the night, but havent needed any which is good
I am finding the diet quite easy, well easier then i thought it would be, and cant wait to be 4 stone lighter! Today i thought would of been hard, sorry yesterday when we had the roast cooking, my fav meal every, and nothing even sat the hubby and kids, it smelt lovely but didnt feel the need to have a little pick, which i felt great with. Anyway i hope you are doing ok and feeling well also x
