Powdered sweetener is not allowed at all.

Basically theres some ingredient in the powdered sweetener that can kick you out of ketosis. and you dont want that!

I find sweetex the cheapest, you usually get a 500 pack fora pound or so.
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast
  • Hi
I hope you dont mind me joining in, I have been reading this thread for a while now!

I am thinking about doing the Cambridge Diet, i did it about 11 yrs ago and lost loads of weight, I seem to remember it being fairly easy at the time. I am keen to try it again, as I am struggling to lose the weight I put on with my DD 2 yrs ago. The only problem I can see would be the amount you have to drink, I absolutely hate water, in any form, sparkling or still, it literally makes me gag so I cant swallow it, odd I know, but there you go! What else would I be able to drink in enough quantities? I like juice, squash, fizzy drinks, tea and coffee (not sure I could manage them black though!) and all of these things I belive you cant have, is that right?

You need to drink minimum 2 litres a day for health as it is. Theres every chance that if you are not drinking tis amount, you will struggle healthwise, I never was that "into it" but needs must and I must say I feel so much better from doing so.

You can have peppermint or green tea, peppermint tea with a sweetner in is quite nice, hot or quite nice cold too, with some ice in.

You can have one can of coke zero per day after week 2 ( or is it 3 C&Q?)

you can have tea adn coffee, but only black.

there are some drink powders, ones orange and I think the other one is like a berry flavour ( havent tried this one yet) a little goes a very long way, you put in a teaspoon ( i have half a teaspoon per pint of water) and its like squash. the orange one I do like quite a lot, a little bit sherberty! Im not sure you can have these in the first 2 weeks.

C&Q will know when she comes back.

The CD flavourings box lasts forever!! One teaspoon to 1 litre of water. I put mine into a bottle of sparkling water, after I have drunk some of it, otherwise it fizzes all over the place! I like the Summer Berry very much but have not yet tried the Orange.

C&Q will know when she comes back.

You can have Coke Zero (to 1 litre per day), the CD bars, the CD mousse-mix and the CD water flavourings from Week 3 onwards. This is to make sure that ketosis is well-established before adding extras.

There is one of the Perfectly Clear you can have, I think it is Strawberry & Kiwi which is the only one without citric acid. You need to check for citric acid before buying it. Also, the Tesco own brand of Diet Cola is citric-acid free. Really speaking you should have the water - your body doesn't really need or want the chemicals that make up Coke Zero, etc.

The 2 litres is the daily minimum that your body needs to function. The 8 glasses per day, that is all. Most people don't drink anywhere near enough water - and it is so good for your skin - you will really notice the difference. Some folks on CD drink 3 or 4 litres per day and that is fine too. When it is hot or you are doing exercise you will need more than the 2 litres per day as a matter of course.

No juices, no squashes, etc allowed. Only black tea or coffee. Some folks put a little of the vanilla shake mix into coffee - not as an extra but to share part of that shake for that given day. Haven't tried it myself. The best coffee to drink black is Kenco.
  • Hi, just a quick update from me.

Been away on Brownie Camp over the weekend and managed to stick to my CD 'bricks' and bars I'd taken with me! Tried to keep the water levels high too .. seemed to spend half the weekend in the loo anyway extracting spiders with their hands over their ears from the deafening brownie screams!!!!!:D

Feeling positive for my weigh in tomorrow morning - hoping to have knocked off a few more pounds - fingers crossed!
  • Thanks for that, I know I dont drink anywhere nearly as much as I should anyway, some days I might have 2 cups of tea and thats all I drink in a day, really bad I know, but I find it hard to drink anymore, plus I never really get thirsty. The Perfectly clear and tesco coke, is that from the 3rd week? if so, I dont think I will be able to do the diet, as I really cant drink plain water, yuch, the thought of it is making me gag here.

Cambridge doesn't have Meetings! Unless the particular CDC arranges them herself.

Go to www.cambridgedieters.com and you will find the list of the Counsellors available in your area - the Forum is also accessed from that main page too.

CD costs around £35 per week.

Your BMI of 25 would be a weight of 150-ish which is just under 11 stones. I am 5'6 too that is how I know without looking!!

Im not sure you can have tesco coke, i thought it was only coke zero ( not even diet coke instead) as DC has one of the ingredients that will kick you out of ketosis. (oops just noticed C&Q said we can! Wooo - its way cheaper than zero isnt it!)

I dont want to be sounding like im having a go, as I wasnt a huge water drinker myself unti li started this, but chances are running your body on such low fluids is likely to be the reason that you are hungry/ somewhat overweight :o. It certainly has made me feel and look so mcuh better through drinking more water, I wonder why you cant do it- have you spoken to you GP about it? I never drank it as it was "boring" much preferring tea or fizzies or fruit joiuces myself, but I could , I just chose not to IYSWIM
