    Hi girls

I've been reading thru this thread and have to say I'm very intrigued! I have about 2.5 stone to lose. Thing is, I know that the sensible way to do this is healthy eating & exercise but I'm being seduced by the speed at which you are all losing weight and the fact that it takes the thinking out of dieting....I eat what I'm given and that's it....no deciding for myself (and making the wrong choices!)

I can't help but think that this can't be healthy though? I know you've had all this before but logic tells me that to lose weight so quickly can't be good. Please prove me wrong! Also, by drinking so much water aren't you diluting the sodium in your body? I thought that drinking too much water was quite dangerous?

I just mentioned to my OH that I was thinking about doing this and he got quite cross and told me off for thinking about going on a "fad" diet.

Congrats on your weight losses by the way :T

  • I pay the normal basic RRP rate.

A friend of mine who lives more than 30 miles away from me contacted a CDC by email and she wanted £50 for the first session and £40 per week after that. My friend was horrified and, I think, thought I had massaged the price a little.

I think she has now contacted a couple of the others to see what they say.

Officially, apparently, the CDC's are not supposed to go over the RRP but they can charge for sessions or groupwork and also can charge for the booklets too, which is fair enough.

Cambridge is perfectly sound, totally balanced nutrition in three three daily packs. It had 13 years of solid research prior to going onto the open market.

I have just finished Dr. Alan Howard's original Cambridge Book which goes through all the trials, etc, which were done on patients as in-patients in hospital initially and the development of the product itself.
Am waiting for the 2004 updated version of this book.

Cambridge is totally safe. I have a blood test every four weeks and nothing has gone wrong with that at all!

Your body requires 2 litres of water per day - that is 8 large glasses, more if you have been doing heavy exercise or if it is very hot.
Cambridge recommends a minimum of 2.25 litres. Some people drink much more than this whilst following Cambridge, though.

Your body can actually cope with 12-14 litres over a 24 hour period provided it is not given all in one go, which would be dangerous.

Do go to www.cambridgedieters.com and click on the Forum - you will see all the folks currently losing weight on Cambridge. Some of the CDC's post there aswell as some of Management too. One of the CDC's posts on here but I think she is still away on holiday.

what IS the RRP rate C&Q do you know?

I have bought the booklet for 2.00 which is fine and she doesnt charge me for anything else.

Oh Ok, looks like my one is sticking rididly to the RRP, which is nice to know :D

I did write a massive reply to you petal , however, it was lost in the MSE glitch :(

But what I was going to say is:

Cambridge diet is not like any other. I dont under stand what is " fad" about cambridge.

    Dictionary.com says a fad is
a temporary fashion, notion, manner of conduct, etc., esp. one followed enthusiastically by a group.

Now, as C&Q says, it definately is followed enthusiastically by a group! ( but then so were the beatles ;) and I wouldnt call them a fad LOL

I would take issue with it being a temporary fashion. I certainly- having done it for a few weeks- would not say its temporary at all, and I dont think its designed to be. there are a number of stages ( as in many other diets) and each one can take whatever amount of time depending on what you have to lose. I think it will be temporary for me in sole sourcing ( the shakes only, then add a meal) of course it will be for everyone. In time you move up through the stages, the final one being maintainence- which is designed for life. It is a blanaced diet, but light on carbs.

I feel utterly amazing now :D & must look it too- as the cars have started beeping at me again :D What OH says is my skin is glowing, my eyes are twinkling and I look fab. Hes biased mind you, but a few people at work have said "what are you smiling about" and I didnt realise I was!!

I feel light as a feather and feel like im dancing through life. I have a new optimism that im certain is to do with the fact I dont feel sliggish and I dont fall asleep at any opportunity. My eyes dont glaze after lunch at work ;)

My OH was sceptical but I told him it was non-negotiable. I need support not negativity :D He has obliged, and the compliments just keep on coming. When we first met I got this gorgous corset & nickers set in the sales, & only wore it once as it was borderline fitting when I got it. Im almost ready to give it another whirl :D

the other amazing thing about the diet is that im not tempted by food ( that blip was carb demand for totm) I cook for OH, and tomorrow hes having home made burgers wedges & all the trimmings. The other day I made him a pizza. As I love to say to him as its coming out of the oven AM I BOVVERED THO - no!!! whereas befroe Id scoff anything within arms reach- now im not hungry at all - its fabulous.

Its not so much what the scales say, its more how I feel in myself. If I could bottle it and send it- youd know what I mean.

I have been reading through this for a long time now and after talking to my friend who is on the diet and doing very well I have decided to do it myself, I lost a lot of weight before on weightwatchers but I need a change and a quicker one now, but I know I can do long term and I am hoping this will work for me, spoke to CDC today for about half an hour on the phone and am going on saturday to pick the stuff up, very nervous but very excited too!:j
