Dear Cute N Quirky - your message has inspired me to try the CD. You have achieved wonderful results and you must feel so much better in yourself for losing that weight. Can your RA be cured from your weight loss? Of course, when I mention this diet to people, there is always someone who has a horror story about it, and maybe the people who became ill had medical problems already, like you say. My GP really inspired me, as I was amazed he recommends these VLCDs. Did you ever try SW or WW or the other clubs? I have done them all, lost a bit of weight, put it on and it goes on..... but I have always been told that to lose weight slowly 1-2 lbs a week is better than quickly, but I am 50 now and need to do something fast!
I dont yet understand all the CD plans you mention like 790, 1000 but am sure the Counsellor will explain them to me. I need to lose 4 or 5 stone to get to a healthy weight and am really determined to try this and prove to my doctor that I can do it.... I have high BP and maybe if I lose some weight it will come down again.
I have phoned 3 local counsellors in my area and am disappointed that they seem to charge whatever they like for the same thing - one quoted £34 a week, one quoted £36 and one said £38 a week for the sole source packs... I have spoken to the one I liked best a couple of times (most expensive by the way) and will visit her as she lives around the corner from me. I am doing a Race for Life walk on 20th July so wont start the CD until after that date and I have to cook for my son and partner so am very worried about having to cook, smell and see other people eating food. My willpower is not good at all!! and I love chocolate, but I am determined not to have any whilst doing the CD.
Thanks for your help - you are an inspiration!
Thanks!
I had done all sorts of diets before. Was successful with Rosemary Conley and Atkins but Cambridge is the best.
Unfortunately my RA is incurable.
The plans are -
Sole Source - the three meal replacements per day ( or 4 for some)
SS+ with milk - is 4 replacements plus a skimmed milk allowance
SS+ with food - is 3 replacements plus a small meal
810 is 3 replacements plus milk plus a meal
etc
Your CDC will explain it all! It isn't as confusing as it might sound.
Will get the new price plan from 1st July and post it for you

Am thinking about doing Cambridge diet. Can anyone tell me if you are allowed to have a break when you are on holiday for instance i.e. a week off or the odd day for special occasions. Trying to time things right as we are going away for a week end of Aug and feel that i don't want to restrict myself or family that week.Jan Grocery challenge

I was just about to ask the same question, i have 2 hen nights coming up in august and a wedding, was going to put off the diet until the end of august, but i could of lost a few pounds by then if i started now, so was wondering the same thing, could i start now, knowing that for 3 days i am going to eat and drink?
Thankyou x0 -
Hi
You can have a break - its up to you, just be aware that its likely you will put weight on and may be out of ketosis so you will have to go through the process again of getting back into it, which isnt that much fun.
Drinking is not advisable on CD, it can be very dangerous and at best it will pile on calories, on the CD forum there is a lady who had a fit after drinking whilst on SS
If you do want to eat and drink you will have to take yourself out of ketosis first which will involve eating forbidden foods!
I have been on a holiday to Wales with my kids and managed to stay on SS (dont ask me how because I dont know, stubborness I think !!!)
Its your call at the end of the day, if you wanna few days off - cool but just bear in mind that if you still want to carry on losing you will have to start back on CD as soon as possible as you will put on a few pounds. Try to stick to meat and salad if you can, like the SS+ or 810 cal meals. If not just have a bloody good time then work your butt off afterwards (like I do hehe)
I am going to a hen night and wedding in August, I decided I will have a meal but not drink at the hen night and see how it goes for the wedding.
good luck and remember there is loads of support for you all on the CD forum and on here, you still have to have a life whilst on CD, we all do!

Thanks for the info, scary to think you could have a fit  if you drink. Well i think i will wait, as i want to be totally focus on it, and i think if i did eat or drink i would i would beat myself up over it, its ok though 5 weeks and i can start, i think i will just start to cut down on what i eat, as i think it is my portion size that lets me down, as i dont really snack or anything, oh and coca cola
