Hi im new to the forum and wonder if someone can answer a few questions on cd for me.
Firstly I would like to say I am a polycystic ovary sufferer (pcos) for short. As many people know you tend to gain weight with this. My doctor has told me to loose weight to help. I have lost 1 and 1/2 stone in 3 months. But want to try this diet. I did try the lipotrim diet for a wk but found the shakes revolting.
Can someone please tell me if these shakes taste ok, and if the weight loss each wk is good. Also can I ask does the weight remain off with sensible eating At present i am 13 stone 8 and my doctor has told me for someone of my height 5,5 I should only weigh 9 stone. So alot to loose.
Can someone please advise.
Also do I buy then from a councillor or can I buy them elsewhere at all.
Sorry for questions but my mind is made up to loose the weight but just dont know which way to do it yet.
Kind regards0 -
I've only just started on CD (a week). You buy the shakes, soups and bars from a cd counsellor. A CD counsellor for your area can be found on the cd website.
The only shakes I've tried are vanilla, strawberry, toffee & walnut, chocolate mint & butterscotch. I thought they were all nice but wasn't too keen on the butterscotch. Chicken & mushroom soup was ok as was leek & potato. Not keen on the mushroom though, cardboard tasting to me.
I've lost 4lbs in my first week, people who have a lot to lose seem to have bigger loses.
Hope this has been some help.0 -
The Cambridge diet works very well for people with PCOS - I have two friends with PCOS and they swear by Cambridge - low-carb diets are recommended for the condition.
Even people with three stones to lose do tend to lose weight faster anyway.
Cambridge say that the losses on SS are 14lbs per calendar month. I lose that on 790.
Do give it a go - Cambridge is fabulous!0 -
Wow C 'n' Q.... you are losing 14lbs a month on 790? (or 810 as it is now) THat is amazing!
I am currently SSing and due to weigh tomorrow for my 4th weigh in. Up to last Saturday I had lost 22lbs in 3 weeks. How amazing is that????
Discovered sparkling water today TESCO VALUE 17p for 2 ltrs - have drunk about 4 litres today which is unknown for me!
Struggling like hell today - I want food so badly and was going to get a cooked chicken portion from Tesco, but its closed tonight for the bank holiday i believe. Perhaps someone is keeping an eye on me?
Have eaten loads of cabbage on a couple of occasions (I dont LIKE cabbage!)
Do you have a small meal a day on 790? You are still losing well even on that?
I am scared to go up a stage incase i stop losing as my weigh ins have been fabulous 11, 5, 6 in 3 weeks.
But sometimes my yearnings are so immense.... like now.... i could eat anything.....
funnily enough i am not just caving in.... i am trying to be sensible and am considering something that isn't going to knock me out of ketosis.
I prefer the fact that i cant have anything as it takes the freedom of choice away. I don't want to cheat either. Just right now I neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed something!
please share about your current 790 plan.....

Just popping in for a nosey ... not on any diet at the moment. I have boxes of CD stuff in my kitchen but I have developed a sudden aversion to them - almost like I'm pregnant! (You know how that can make you go off stuff?) Anyway I'm not pregnant and am trying to get my head back into the "zone" for doing CD..
A big well done Cn'Q - hats off to you for sticking with it - I bet you feel fab - deservedly so.0 -

Hopefully by next week I will have lost another 3lbs making 9 stones loss in 8 months - fingers crossed
The meal on 790 is quite large! 10oz of Quorn is HUGE!! Plus 3 tbsps of veg. Huge amounts of cottage cheese or 6ozs turkey/chicken
I am still doing 790 not the 810 and I don't have the milk allowance every day. I have fat-free yoghurt in place, but not every day.

Thankyou all for your replies.
I woke up this morning feeling really positive and have decided I am definately going to give it a go. I have already lost 1 and 1/2 stone myself, so I know I can do it, all I need to do now is fond a counsellor in my area who does it, Anyone know any cdc in the Reading area of Berkshire.
I so ready for this now I have read everyones success stories. You are all such an inspiration (i think spelt right) to me. Give yourselves a pat on the back and definately cute and quirky. How have you found doing it so long?
If I have half the success of you C and Q I will be estatic.
Keep up the good work all of you, and I hope you all dont mind me joining you when I get the shakes etc. Only part im worried about is im a pre-school teacher and look after 24 children in a morning session and 28 in the afternoon session all aged 2-3 yrs. My lunch break is only 25 mins so not worried about that as I usually go home to let the dog out, but winder about the energy side with all those children.
Anyone know if energy levels suffer etc.

Thanks!
Cambridge is a way of life for me now - 8 months on Tuesday coming.
I go to Malta for two weeks on All Inclusive in two weeks' time and am going up from 790 to the 1000 plan to allow me have some fruit whilst I am there.
I have no problem with Cambridge at all - once the pounds start dropping off you just want to continue and get to goal! That is the most motivational part of it. Then when the comments come they make you feel great!
In the first week you may find that you are a little drained. That rather depends on your carb-intake prior to starting CD.
The best advice is to cut back on your carbs now and increase your water intake.
You should be fine in your first week - do split your shakes and have 6 instead of 3 in the first few days - that does help0
