I've sold some of my costume jewellery, that only made about £7 profit though. I do have more listed that didn't sell previously.

I think I'm going to put the ebay profit towards my Natwest CC as if I use it towards my overdraft it's more likely I'll spend it! But I don't even know the pin number for my 2 0% cards.

My main goal is to first get out of the overdrafts and that is by not spending much money at all. As these are the accounts I use for everyday. I wasn't in my overdraft 2 months ago, well I went in occasionally by £50 or so, but it wasn't like now! I'm going to withdraw cash each week and only use that. Keep the receipts and continue to add to the spend diary.#

I have also reduced my overdraft limit from £1400 to £1000 and will hopefully reduce this to £500 or so when I'm out of it. It's good to keep it there for times when I'm unemployed, until I can build savings at least.

Even though these 3 weeks of being unemployed meant very little money coming in, it's been good in the fact I'm getting my life sorted. I have sorted out my room, it was a bit messy, I've sorted out all of my paperwork into folders, went through my debt. I've also sorted out the house account, as I live in a shared house and I'm the one in charge of all the bills. I've managed to reduce the gas bill by switching. So it's been a productive 3 weeks!

I'm thinking of getting a new 0% card to transfer my Halifax CC balance onto. I applied for my last credit card in January, so I should be ok I think. Although I do have a lot of credit available in credit cards as Halifax have just upped my limit again! It started as a £1400 limit and it's slowly climbed to £2900 now!! If I max out all my credit cards I could be in debt of £6900, plus I have £3200 worth of overdraft. So that means I'm using about half of my available credit. I really hope I get accepted for a new 0% card so I'm not paying interest, even though it's a relatively low 15.9%

So tomorrow I start my strict budget. £20 not using any cards, and if I need shopping I will be counting it as I go along.

My money from ebay will clear tomorrow or Tuesday. I've decided that's going straight on a credit card because then I wont be tempted to spend it then. I'll leave just enough behind to pay my ebay fees.

I'm also getting about £6 in cashback, from ordering my holiday to Paris. That'll stay to help clear the overdraft.

I have also sent my letter to the tax man asking them to pay me back the £600 odd quid they owe me from last tax year. That'll bring me out of my overdraft, so it better arrive soon!
  • Hi Sharon

You commented on my diary so thought i'd check your out. I also love music and some of my debt has been created from gig's festivals etc. I have been goooooood and very bored this year only seeing McFly (bit cheesy I know but tok me back to my teens) as they played in Lincoln meaning it was mega cheap. I also have tickets to the Greenday Music in november which is in Birmingham so iwll involve a hotel  as well as this I haven't been on holiday this year and don't plan to :0( but hey ho i've got the beautiful british weather to keep me going :rotfl: I saw blink at leeds festival they are amazing live they had a revolving stage and Travis ended up playing drums upside down :T

Anyway back to money, money, moneyyy..... Glad to see someone similar to my situation starting out then same time as me. Do you know how to subscribe to a diary? I've not used the forum much before. I'm thinking if we check up on each other it'll keep us in check

    Hi Hannah

Music gigs are dangerous things when trying to save money! Aren't they? I'm quite lucky I live in London, so Hyde Park have free concerts during the Olympics, including McFly.

You can subscribe to a thread using 'thread tools' at the top of the thread.

I actually went to a gig last night - The Darkness in Thetford Forest. I saved money by taking my own food and booze, which was allowed. I did get a bit drunk though, on free vodka that was left over from my house party a few weeks back.
  • I love the free booze after a house party a little bonus for having to tidy up.

Cool i'll subscribe and keep an eye on your progress :0) xx

So today I start my new job. I've made my sandwich to take with me, let's hope I don't forget it. But I'm currently sitting in bed under the covers not wanting to get up, even after a cup of tea and cereal, which is a new thing, I tend to get up too late for breakfast so buy something when I'm out!

I think I'll be looking forward to my next, free cup of tea at work. And I really hope my computer's not slow, as at this company the computers are old.

    Wish me luck!
  • Morning Sharon,

Good Luck for today :) Hope you enjoy your sandwich and free tea.

Just read your SOA about the new iphone. My phone was up for renewal a few months back I decided I wouldn't upgrade until I was debt free when I called to renew my contract I told them I wanted to leave and put a pay as you go sim in my old iphone as I was on a budget. They lowered my monthly bill to £10 a month inc unlimited texts, calls and 3G. The iphone 5 will be out soonish as well so i figure if I wait untill it's been out a few months I won't have to pay either a massive monthly bill or a payment for the phone. Now when I use me old iphone it makes me not want to spend so I can get the new one sooner.
